The tears would not stop falling, refusing to desist when she least needed to look weak, vulnerable. Yet, her body would not obey her wishes, only pushing more tears out as she replayed what she had done, was about to do. There was nothing holding her back now, no strings attaching her to any yet, she still hesitated, frozen where she was, right above the now unconscious Zero.

One hand travelled to her lips, as if trying to recall the recent kiss the two had shared at the masquerade ball. His lips had been so soft, so welcoming to her embrace. For one moment, they had been possible, for a moment, she and Zero could have been together. Maybe not for an eternity, but definitely for many years. The spell was doomed to be broken, and it was, with the arrival of the man her heart had once belonged to.

That recollection broke through her reverie and propelled her from Zero's side. Was she so selfish that she would cause the two she loved, longed for even, more pain? Zero had called her his "victim", Kaname had loved her truly, and she didn't deserve it. She was a true monster, the worst kind, the kind that leeched off of other people's affection and pain. No more, she would destroy the monster within her very being, and stop Kaname in the only way she could- turning him into a human. He had suffered so long, and had done so much for her.

He had also killed, had also left her. It was time to end it all, for enough was enough. Zero could live a life liberated from her monstrous grip, could be free from the shackles that held him, bound him to her.

To set the two free, she would die.

And neither of them would remember her, would never again be plagued by her presence.

Yes, when she was done, everything would be alright.

With her heart full of renewed determination, she ran towards Kaname's destination, towards the end of her road. She would end, but their stupid, cruel world would not.

The world would keep on moving, but she would not.

She would not.
