Heartbeat
Their hands slowly reached towards each other, but then they both timidly withdraw their hands back on their laps. Both of their faces were tinted with red blush. They chuckled softly, seeming to hide their embarrassment. The young rabbit turned her head away from the two-tailed fox.
The wind blew in result; it was making Creams ears flop around. She slowly leaned her back against the tree. She pulled her knees up to her chest. She lightly hugged herself making Tails feel a little awkward.
The sun hid behind the clouds, as if the sun didn't want to see them in an awkward situation.
Tails sat criss-cross and propped his elbows on his thigh. He rested on his cheek on his left hand. They sat through the awkward silence. Not saying another word to each other.
Cream felt the urge to break that silence, but she couldn't think of anything to say at this moment. Tails however, felt nervous. His stomach felt a little uneasy as they sat through the agonizing moment.
They both took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
"You want to go out?" Tails finally broke the silence. His question was simple, but to the point.
Fear of being rejected was shone in his blue eyes. He sat there, waiting for her to answer. He didn't like it when she didn't answer immediately.
His palms were sweaty, his mind was running with non-stop thoughts, and his heartbeat was beating at an astounding rate.
"Yes," For the first time today, Cream actually felt comfortable with Tails. She felt as if a huge amount of weight has been lifted off her shoulders.
Cream finally turned her head so that she could face Tails. The two-tailed fox smiled in relief.
The young fox's mind was now blank, his palms were not sweaty anymore, but his heartbeat was still beating very fast.
She lightly chuckled, "What's the matter?"
Tails smiled, "My heart…It feels like its going to explode." He shortly chuckled after.
She smiled, he instantly felt foolish, but at least she was smiling.
"Cream!" Vanilla spoke from afar. She was outside in front of her house, waiting for her.
Creams smile vanished, "Tails, I have to go…" She felt sad, she didn't want to leave Tails.
Tails smile vanished as she stood up from her spot. "Will I see you tomorrow?" Tails asked with a hopeful tone.
Cream smiled, "Of course, silly,"
Cream happily skipped towards her house. Tails observed as she went inside her humble home, shortly followed by her mother.
Tails remained seated by Creams tree. He put his hand over his chest. He felt his heartbeat going even faster than before.
"Cream, you're the only girl that I know that makes my heart go fast…When I'm around you." He mumbled to himself.
