Challenge WOW: Blanket
Summary: Winter gets the better of Dean
Word count: 277
Oh, the Weather outside is Frightful
The ground was covered in a thick blanket of snow. The lake was frozen over, the air was silent. And that was what worried him. The silence.
"DEAN!" He bellowed. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. That's when he saw it. The hole in the lake and the dead Wendigo lying a few feet away. "Shit!"
He ran as fast as he could toward the ice, skidding to his knees and brushing the snow away so he could see. His eyes found what they were looking for and he plunged his arms into the icy water. His hands clasped around wet fabric and he pulled, hoping his numb fingers could support the weight.
Dean's face was white, his lips a pale blue. He coughed when his face hit the oxygen, water spilling out of his mouth.
Sam pulled him off of the ice and into the snow.
Dean trembled violently in his brother's arms, wondering where the numbing darkness went. The water on the tips of his hair was freezing. His teeth chattered so hard they might break.
"Dean!" Sam's voice filtering through his ears in his dazed state. "Dean, are you okay?!"
"S-S-S-S-Samm-mmy?" Sam nodded, looking Dean over to see if he was hurt. "'S-'s dead?" Sam laughed and nodded.
"Yeah, Dean, it's dead," Sam said. Dean coughed hard, leaning against Sam a little more. Sam hugged him, rubbing his arms to keep blood moving. "Okay, I'm gonna get you out of here, Dean. I'll get you warm alright?"
"Th-th-thank y-y-you, S-Samm-Sammy," He shuddered. "H-hey, S-S-am?"
"Yeah?" Sam said, looking down at him.
"I r-r-real-really ha-hate w-w-winter."
