Summary:Never ask a genius a question with a simple, simple answer. Its cruel.
Here it is:
"Hey Reid, how do you make time fly?"I asked as I sat down in my cubicle. His brow furrowed in concentration. I smirked to myself. He'll never get it.
"What kind of question is that?"He asked with frustration after a minute.
"A legitimate one. I want to see if you can get the answer right."
"What answer right?"Hotch asked with a stern glare to me.
"How do you make time fly?"Reid murmured the question again to himself.
"Emily, how many times have I told you? Its not nice to ask a genius a question with a simple answer."Hotch playfully scolded.
We both smile as we watch him scribble across a piece of paper.
One Hour Later
"How long has he been there?"Rossi asked Hotch. The whole team stood in a group watching as he continued to write something.
"A good hour."
"The answer is so simple."Garcia says.
"Hes probably inventing the modern time machine."Everyone smiles at that. Knowing Reid...I wouldn't be surprised.
"Hes so smart. Why can't he figure this out?"JJ asked to no one in particular.
Reid stood with a triumphant smile.
"You have the answer?"Rossi questioned with a skeptical glance.
"Yeah."That was the only word in English we heard. He babbled on and on for minutes until Morgan finally interrupted him.
"Reid, you throw a clock out of a window."
"Oh."He said in a hurt and embarrassed voice. He blushes deeply and looks down at the floor.
"You came up with a good explanation though."I added in an attempt to make him feel better. Now I feel horrible I even asked the stupid question.
He instantly brightens.
"I could tell you more!"He says excitedly.
"Sure."I lie. Its better then having him look like a lost puppy.
"Good luck with that."Morgan whispers to me as the others leave. Great Emily. What have you gotten yourself into?
