The clock read 11:30 even though it felt like 7:30. Kat groaned and rolled out of bed. She got in the shower, got ready for work, and headed off in her Ford Expedition. As she was riding in the car, her cell phone rang. It was Ivan, her boyfriend. Yes, Ivan Braginsky (Russia) was Kat's boyfriend. Nobody believed it, especially her friend Shelby. Shelby had dated many countries before, like South Italy, North Italy, and America. Lovino would always beg for hugs and a kiss, Feliciano was cute, but it didn't work out, and she wasn't sure about Alfred. Love was hard for Shelby, but not for Kat. Kat's motto was "I don't go to a party. I am the party". Shelby's was "Slow and steady wins the race". See the difference? Anyway, she answered the phone.
"Morning sweetie," said Kat, "what's up?"
"Happy birthday," replied Ivan, "I got you a special present. I already told your boss that you can skip work and still get a birthday bonus."
"Awe, thanks honey," said Kat, "I have been trying to get that new upgrade for my phone."
Another call came in, then another, then another. All of them were birthday wishes. Kat totally forgot it was her birthday. One message was from Shelby, telling her to go to the roller rink. So Kat drove there, and was surprised by all of the cars that were there. It was probably a birthday surprise, but with friends like hers it might be something much more bigger. Kat parked her car, and walked up the steps. When she opened the door, Ivan was there welcoming her.
"What's going on?" asked Kat.
"You'll see," Ivan replied. They walked into the rink and the lights went on. Neon lights, strobe lights, and flashing lights blinded Kat. Her favorite songs started to play and friends started rolling around sort of like a flash mob. Kat started to giggle at all the countries dancing around like they were sugar high. She laughed so hard at the friends who couldn't skate. When the flash mob was over, everyone surrounded Kat, who was laughing so hard she thought she might pee. Everyone wished her a happy birthday and then it was present time. She got numerous gift cards to her favorite places, some cat toys for her 28 cats, and some awesome games like the Xbox 360 with Kinect.
"Wasn't this a great idea for your birthday?" asked her friend Lizzie.
"Awesome, thanks guys so much!" Kat replied.
"I knew you'd love it" Shelby said.
When the party was over, she drove home with Ivan.
"Happy birthday sweetie. I love you" said Ivan and he kissed her goodnight.
