Forever Is Over: Chapter One

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter. All praise is due to the amazing JK Rowling.

Summary: Rose and Scorpius—we went together wonderfully. Two whole years with each other and a proposal. Perfect, no? No. Three weeks later I find myself alone, a wedding called off, and broken hearted. I hadn't heard of him for a while, until recently, when I find out he's working alongside me at St. Mungo's. Forced in a professional setting, how will we ever learn to deal with our pride, conflicts, and lingering feelings?

Love you forever; forever is over.

"Healer Malfoy."

That name.

I was praying I'd never hear that name again.

I had to force myself to stay focused on the file in my hand; otherwise I would've seen the source of my past misery.

I couldn't help but wonder if he felt the same.

"Healer Weasley," said the Devil Spawn herself, also known as Dominique Weasley. Being older than me, my cousin, and above me in the position where we work, she pushed me around constantly, earning her title of the Devil Spawn.

I forced a smile and looked up, answering with a sweet, "yes?"

Five minutes later I found myself walking around the hospital, showing Malfoy the area. Orders from D.S. herself.

Awkward doesn't cover it.

To his credit, he dealt with my cold demeanour fairly well, accepting it for what it was. Only occasionally would I see a roll of the eyes or hear a sigh at my one word replies.

Well, he'd have to deal with it. I wasn't the one who proposed and left three weeks later, now was I?

When we reached the cafeteria, our final stop, I turned to him and coldly informed him of this, only to get a blank look in response. When I turned around to stalk off, however, I heard a simple word that sounded so different from his mouth.

"Rose."

My body betrayed me and made me turn to face him again, only to be met with his grey eyes piercing into mine.

"Can we eat together? We need to talk."

I briefly contemplated the idea of just saying no, but curiosity had gotten the best of me, so I agreed.

We sat down, and he sighed, opening and closing his mouth several times, before finally starting. "Listen, Rose, there's something that I need to tell you. I-"

"Hello!" Devil Spawn herself came and sat herself down next to Malfoy, smiling at him as she touched his arm. Hah, for all the hell she gave me for acting unprofessional.

"Alright, Dominique?" Scorpius smiled at her. She grinned and nodded, then removed her hand to brush her blonde bangs out of her sparkling blue eyes, and I saw something flash on her finger.

A diamond ring.

I glanced at Malfoy, who smiled at me sheepishly.

Oh, fucking hell. This must be some sort of cruel trick.

..x..

So, I present to you the pilot of FIO. I'm not too sure where it's going, I'm not too sure if it's even written well, I'm fairly certain this is a cliché idea, but I'm going to do it anyway. Basically I have exams later this week and early next week, so what better way to procrastinate? My main goal is to make this sound more British, because I am Canadian and sometimes I make my fanfictions show that. Bear with me, however, because I'm getting this from British YouTubers, Harry Potter and "A Guide for NonBrits Writing Harry Potter Fanfics." By the user Pinky Brown.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this, because it was fun to write this in class.

Review and you'll see another chapter soon ;)
