HER INSANITY

"Why?" he asked as he stared her down with Sharingan eyes. "Why?"

She blinked dumbly at him. "You should know that much already."

The wheels in his eyes began turning.

"You idiot."

She smiled sweetly. "Maybe." She closed her eyes, smile widening. "Probably."

"…Sakura."

Her eyes opened and emerald met crimson again. "Sasuke."

The 'kun' had been dropped.

Silence fell around the two young ninjas as they stood in the clearing. The smell of blood mixed and mingled with the natural pine in the air. Bodies littered the ground around them, Sound and Leaf emblems alike.

"You killed Leaf-nin."

She shrugged, her smile never faltering.

Sasuke almost flinched.

"They were your comrades," he stated evenly.

Not that he had room to criticize.

She blinked once, slowly. "But I don't love them. I love you."

Sasuke did flinch then. Albeit, unnoticeably.

Sasuke studied her quietly. She was different and the same all at once. Still pretty and pink. A Chuunin. More capable, certainly. No longer fragile… but a twisted side of him wondered if he could still break her.

Break through that wild glaze of delusion that had settled over her eyes.

"Not even a response," she sighed to herself.

He heard her, though.

He couldn't stop the smirk that tugged the corner of his lips.

"You're annoying."

She looked at him for a second before smiling even bigger.

"Yes… but so are you."

And really, it had been annoying to track him down for three years, pass the chuunin exam, train under the Hokage, and then betray her team as well as keep fighting the sound-nin.

All to be there with him. All because she loved him.

"Very annoying. Ne, Sasuke-kun?"

Some deep, hidden part of himself felt better at the re-addition to his name.

Okay. Crack-head idea. It just… kind of came to me. I love Sakura. Really I do. But the bitch is insane, y'all. I mean, there are moments in the manga where you know she's not right in the head.

Goddess of Oblivion: Revised just a little. Took out some unnecessary bits, and changed a couple sentences. I think it's cleaner and more to the point.
