Done a couple months ago for a friend at Livejournal. I figured it was too short to post here, but I'll let it slip this one time...
Say hello to the first and probably last Jose/Aracuan in existance. As I've mentioned before, I'm convinced I should stop writing these completely.
I also liked how Jose flipped when the Aracuan took his cigar. It was like Jose had regular run-ins with the guy and constantly put up with his shenanigans.
It began as with any normal stroll in Brazil when IT reared its ugly head. Or rather, the sound of it did. Jose looked around for the source of this familiar chirp.
The eccentric song of the Aracuan echoed throughout the trees, and the flaming-red haired bird popped out of a bush and paced around Jose before stopping and saluting him with a familiar yellow boater's hat.
Seeing this, Jose felt for his own hat, only to find it missing. He put up his arms in frustration, having gone through this routine too long for his liking.
"Never in my life have I met such a shameless bird!" he scolded in his native Portuguese, snatching the hat away from the smaller bird. "Aren't you tired of doing this every time we meet?"
The Aracuan shook his head vigorously, enthusiastically taking one of Jose's hands and shaking it.
"I worry for your sanity," the parrot said, pulling away. Something clicked in the pink bird when Jose said that. He looked up at him bashfully as if the green bird just presented him with a bouquet of flowers.
Jose paid no mind to it, however. "Now go on," he waved a gloved hand in the Aracuan's direction. "Shoo."
The strange bird chirped again and unexpectedly did as he was told, disappearing to the other end of the road. Glad to see him finally gone, Jose walked the opposite direction, only to run into the Aracuan AGAIN and this time, the critter pulled their beaks together and gave Jose a loud smooch to the lips. Jose was stunned as the Aracuan gave a joyous screech (much like Panchito did when he was ecstatic) and bounded off into the trees, leaving a flustered and very irritated parrot behind yelling a stream of curses.
