The Doctor looked longingly at his best friend from behind a tree opposite a community park, wanting so much to run and wrap her in his arms. She looked the same as she had before he had regenerated, with her flowing ginger hair and glowing green eyes.

Donna was pushing a swing occupied by a laughing toddler boy. The sun was shining through the clouds overhead, and a slight breeze made both the trees around the park and her hair sway in the wind. A smile spread wide across her plump lips, and her white teeth glistened in the sun. A ray caught her red hair just right, and for a split second the strands seemed to turn to gold. She was glowing from head to toe.

A dark man, presumably her husband, came up behind the woman and clutched her waist, whispering something into her exposed ear. She laughed and turned to face the man, barely missing the still moving swing. The man grinned from ear to ear, and planted a loving kiss on Donna's lips.

The Doctor couldn't help but smile. Despite his friend's tragic fate, she seemed happy and care-free. She had a son, and he looked just like her. He had her hair and eyes, but his father's skin color. He was perfect and beautiful, just like her.

His eyes began to fill with tears that threatened to spill over. She was happy, but he missed her so much. He wanted his best friend back, but he knew he could never hold her or talk to her again. And this fact shattered his heart into a million pieces.

"What are you looking at?" Amy Pond skipped to a halt and set her chin on his shoulder, trying to find what the mysterious man was staring so intently at.

The Doctor turned to face his companion, faking a smile. "Nothing. Shall we carry on?" He began to walk slowly back to the TARDIS. Amy walked ahead of the Doctor, allowing him the chance to take one last look over his shoulder at the woman in the park. As he stared, Donna's head turned towards him, and their eyes locked. Her eyes narrowed a little, and she cocked her head to the side, as if trying to remember where she knew this strange looking man from. She smiled at him briefly, and then averted her eyes from his, going back to pushing her son on the swing. Donna was completely unfazed by the unknown man looking at her in the park.

The Doctor turned back to face his companion, who had stopped walking and was now looking at the man with a knowing look on her face. "Are you sure you're ready to leave?" she asked patiently.

He sighed and began walking back towards his new friend who so reminded him of Donna. "Yes, I think I am. Are you ready to see the stars, Amy Pond?"

Amy grinned and held out her elbow for the Doctor, who linked his arm in hers and skipped with her to the TARDIS door.
