James Potter stared critically at himself in the mirror. He had selected his costume carefully in advance. This was the first time his mum let him go out trick-or-treating, and he wanted to look special.
He wriggled uncomfortably inside the bunny suit. It was far hotter and itchier than he could have anticipated. He sighed to himself. i Fashion before comfort. /i He spun in front of the mirror, smiling at the perfect way his pink fluffy tail bobbed up and down as he moved.
Next, his feet. He pulled on a pair of huge, fuzzy pink rabbit feet, nearly losing his balance in the process. It was like trying to walk in flippers. Oh well, some sacrifices just had to be made.
After pacing the room a couple of times to get the feel of the rabbit feet, he went back over to the dresser and donned his rabbit ears. Then he regarded himself once more in the mirror. Something was still missing…
An idea came to him. He ran as quick as his rabbit feet would carry him to his mother's room, and retrieved her bright pink lipstick. Biting his tongue in concentration, he proceeded to paint the tip of his nose pink. Stepping back to admire the effect, he grinned happily again. Perfect.
He made his way downstairs, grabbing the pink silk-lined basket his mother had bought for the occasion.
"Ready or not, here I come…"
