He was devastated when she left, but he knew it was for the best.
Her heart once again shattered when she left, but she knew it was for the best.
After all, he was an S-rank missing-nin part of a feared criminal organization and she was the Hokage's apprentice. But, however different they were, they had still fallen in love.
Once she had returned to Konoha, her friends noticed a change in her attitude. She was no longer the carefree girl she used to be. She was very jittery and carried an air of sadness around her. When she was around friends, she always gave a half-hearted smile that was only a fraction of what it used to be. Everywhere she went she saw him, a glimpse his long, black hair or his beautiful black eyes. It also didn't help the fact that his brother had been brought back to Konoha by a certain blond fox. She rose through the ranks quickly and soon enough was an ANBU captain, much like he once was.
The minute she left, he became a total wreck. He couldn't keep his mind off of her. He trained more, killed more, and stayed in his room more. The rest of the organization also missed her. Kisame lost a drinking partner, Deidara lost a 'sister', and Tobi missed her cheerfulness.
It was fate that brought the two together once again. She was sent on a mission to protect a rich client from an unknown assassin. The minute she got there, she hated him. The client wouldn't stop hitting on her and trying to get up her skirt, eventually though, he went to bed, satisfied that he would be safe. While she was sitting outside of his door, the assassin slipped into the house. The kunoichi sensed his presence immediately. Sneaking up behind him, she held a kunai to his neck. He was surprised that he had not sensed the bodyguard's chakra. "Don't move an inch, or I'll be forced to kill you." She hissed. The assassin's eyes widened as he realized who it was.
"Sakura?" He whipped around to look at her. She gasped as she gazed into his blood red eyes.
"I-Itachi? Is it really you?" She asked as her hands reached up to touch his face. He quickly captured her lips in a passionate kiss. They broke away gasping for air. "Itachi, stop. We both know that we will never be able to be together. They didn't suspect me last time because I was away on a mission and they didn't know that you had kidnapped me. Trust me it can't work." She said with a hint of sadness in her eyes.
"My dear cherry blossom, you know very well that you could always run away with me. But I need to finish my mission first, or else Pein-sama will kill me and you'll have to live without me." He whispered. Then he disappeared, leaving the kunoichi some time to herself, but as quickly as he left, he reappeared. "Sakura, I love you. But if you love your village more than you love me, I suppose I will be forced to leave." he said slowly turning his back on her a making his way towards the window.
"Itachi, wait! Please, take me with you. I can't stand being without you." She begged. "I love you too." she said the last part so quietly he almost didn't hear it.
"Hn." He smirked. Then, he picked her up and together they returned to the base. The minute she walked into the kitchen, she screamed. "DEIDARA, TOBI!! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE KITCHEN?"
