She stood for a moment after the holographic image of The Doctor, vanished after he burned up a supernova to say goodbye following the battle of Canary Wharf. She was still reeling from the emotional goodbye, but during the drive home she steeled herself for life on a parallel universe furthermore a determination to make The Doctor proud and to hopefully return to him one day. Little knowing that one day she would be standing on that beach once more with him only this time in person.
She turned and strolled away back to her family, then returning to London with a single thought 'what does this new world hold for me?'. As Pete drove them back to London, Rose sat in the back sometimes sleeping but all the time remembering the adventures they had shared from the basement of Henriks and the Autons to the battle of Canary Wharf further to the many different alien planets and spaceships and space stations that they visited in between. Before she left the Doctor during the battle of Canary wharf, he placed a small device in the inside of her coat pocket for her to keep along with something The Doctor she had only seen a small incling to what the universe had to offer that was soon to change especially on a whole new earth in a new dimension. But more importantly it was The Doctor, she thought either the stern northerner with the black battered jacket or the Scottish brown or blue suited wearing converse.
In the days that followed from their trip to Norway, Rose begun to discover more of the new world little knowing of what the future lay in front of her and her family. Further she helped with the re-build of buildings and people's lives, additionally with help from Jake, family and friends which for a time since 'Rise of the Cybermen' included Mickey until he returned to his normal dimension, began to rebuild Torchwood from the ground up. In months to follow, Torchwood would become a hive full of scientific research and development further it would be a hub for emerging scientists of all different calibres. Furthermore that she would meet a man from the future that the Earth was dying but also was a long distant relative. Only with one purpose 'To defend the earth…'. A purpose she hoped that the Doctor would be appreciate the purpose but little knowing that she would meet an alternative version of the Doctor where Gallifrey turned into an even darker hell and the time war had raged for thousands of years when a window/portal accidentally opened during a test of dimension vault cannon.
When she got back home in London, she emptied her pockets to find them as they fell on to her bed along with a few other things. She looked at the first device with some curiosity before realizing that he must've made it for her at some point in the workshop as she remembered the sonic screwdriver that the Doctor had. As for the other device that was shaped like a cube with a flashing fingerprint button. Looking at the cube with some apprehension as she wondered why he gave her the cube, so she placed it on top of the dresserm and returned her attention to the sonic screwdriver by picking it up and pointing it towards the cabinet then pressed the button which a light followed by a hum which caused the lock on the cabinet to click.
But fast-forward thirteen months later, Torchwood is rebuilt further more they kept an eye on certain people and organizations including the current prime minister 'Harriet Jones' under instruction from The Doctor during the Battle of Canary Wharf 'Doomsday' as in the dimension that Rose formerly inhabited that when the Sycorax attempted an invasion of Earth she used alien technology to destroy them instead of them going back to the stars after the Doctor had won the sword duel and banished them from Earth with a stern warning that the Earth is defended and also in this time since Torchwood had been rebuilt, Rose had unanimously named as Director of the organisation with that she had to oversee the rebuild of other bases and hiring of new staff. In that office she kept the cube in a small lock with a perception filter around it so that it was invisible unless she needed it.
Since the re-build, scientific projects had begun some were in the early stages and some were born from a simple idea. Even in this stage of things, Rose always took a moment to see the progress of each. It was in these stages, that both the dimension cannon and dimension/teleporter we're being developed.
It was around three months ago that I was brought into the picture, my name is James 'Charlie' Winters and I'm from the far distant future. I was sent back in time to save the Earth and to prevent a major invasion because where I come from the Earth is dying and also to protect the Tyler family and in particular Rose. But little did I know of the plans that had been begun that would threaten her and would make me change. There was a hidden truth behind my name and why I was sent back in time more importantly to her.
During my time I would be sent on missions that would send me to other worlds and dimensions even to meet some of the Doctor's former companions. I was sent back in time via the aid of a time-space vortex manipulator, it almost burnt out as I arrived in the past where I was met by a fellow agent who aided in getting me the job that got me into Torchwood. Furthermore I found somewhere nearby that I could set up base since I arrived little did I know that a friend was in truth my enemy leading me to mislead Rose and her family.
At night I could remember every moment of the war, the ravaged wasteland and how I had to huddle in the different underground bunkers. The families that were torn apart when loved ones never returned or died from the aftermath of skirmishes. Even my own family had died apart myself as I refused to fight in the war but I aided those that I could whether it was medically or helping families come to terms.
I still felt the scars from where I had been caught by the monsters or a stray laser fire from a phaser gun. So at night I barely slept, so I sat up and watched old film of my family even my wife and child or looking at images of what the Earth had become or I tinkered with gadgets in order to pass the time.
