Chapter 1
Aang POV
Crazy herbalist. Sucking on frogs? Who ever heard of such a crazy cure? I wiped the disgusting 'cat food' off my face and headed in the direction of the swamp, but I didn't get far because I was stuck. I looked at my feet. Arrows? Wow. That's a new one. I looked up and saw a bunch of archers in the trees. They were aiming their arrows at me! Great. Out of all the things the fire nation could have sent after me… I made an air shield against the arrows and quickly bent down to take the arrows out of my boots. I was surprised it didn't pierce my skin. By the looks of the arrows, if would of hurt. I stood up and held one of the arrows in my hand. "Uhh," I called out to the archers. "I think you dropped this." But they didn't seem interested in what I had to say. They simply took out more arrows and got into position. I quickly bent down to pull out the other arrow, and the second it came out, I jumped out of the way to avoid being hit by the ones the archers had recently launched.
Before I had time to do anything, more arrows came in my direction. I dodged those too and ran towards the swamp, but once again, I didn't get far. The archers had me almost completely surrounded. I frantically looked for a way out of this mess and saw a cliff. Oh well. It would have to do for now. I dodged a couple more arrows and ran towards the cliff. I jumped off, attempting to soften my landing with air bending, but failed miserably. "AHHHHHH!" I yelled as I fell into the trees. I knew the archers wouldn't give up that easily. The Fire Nation never did. I felt my clothes rip as I fell through the trees.
I landed on a tree branch, but didn't stay long. I heard the arrows slice through the air, aiming for me. I jumped onto the next branch and a couple of tree trunks, missing the arrows again. I jumped again and fell face first onto the ground. Gross! This tastes like swamp! Wait, the swamp! I lifted my head and looked straight ahead. There it is! The swamp! I stood up and ran into the swamp and fell face first in to it…again. My hand touched something hard and cold. I grabbed it and lifted myself out of the water, standing waist deep in it. "A frog!" but my joy quickly turned into fear as an arrow hit it. I moved quickly, reaching down every once in a while to pick up a frog.
I heard the arrows being shot, but still they missed me. I reached down to grab another frog and mentally planed my escape when a swish passed terribly close to me and suddenly, I couldn't move my arm. I looked over and saw it was stuck to a fallen tree trunk. Three more arrows were shot towards me and incredibly, instead of piercing my skin, they stuck my clothes to the tree. Using my other hand I tried pulling myself out, but with no such luck. I looked over to the arches just in time, because they were preparing for another shot at me. The second they let their arrows fly I put up a wall of swamp water and turned it into ice. One of the arrows hit it then another one, right in the middle of the first one. The third one split the second, and after the fourth, my ice wall broke. "AHHHHHH!" I yelled, as shattered ice and arrows flew towards me, and before I knew it, five more arrows had conquered my other arm onto the tree. With no way to defend myself, four of the archers shot a net that covered me. But still I wondered. How were the so precise? I had heard of these people. They could pin a fly to a tree 100 yards away, without killing it. An ice shard had hit me and the corners of my vision were getting blurred but before I blacked out I recognized the paint on their faces. The Yu Yan Archers.
