Hey everyone, another prompt story for today. I'm going to try to upload at least one a day, possibly more, depending on what stuff goes on. Anyways, Poe-ish story, enjoy.
Honey
"Would you care for some honey in your tea?"
The sweet old widow asked this of all her visitors. It was just like her, sweet and innocent.
Some accepted, others denied, it was all the same to her, they never left her house again, one way or the other.
She owned a little cottage, right in-between Baltimore and Washington D.C, she even claimed that the new president, George Washington, had visited.
Rumors spread, and tired travelers stopped at her house, asking for refreshment before they went on.
They never did go on. They never went farther than the woods behind the house once they were corpses, killed by Nightshade-laced honey.
Eventually the authorities discovered how many people went missing during the trip between the cities and went to interrogate the hag. But upon arrival they found nothing, save a plate full of steaming cups of tea numbering one for each of them.
