Hey! So this is my very first HTTYD story! Yay me! Well, read and tell me what you think. Should I write more HTTYD stories?
Disclaimer: I don't own this because if I did Hiccup and Astrid would have been dating since the first movie.
Ruffnut sat high up in a tree branch, her legs swinging freely and a sappy grin plastered on her face. She was so smart. There was no way they were going to find her way up here. Of course, she wouldn't need to be hiding if it wasn't for them. The smile slid of Ruffnut's face and was replaced with a grimace. Astrid and Hiccup. This was so their fault.
After years of flirting, skirting around each other and just plain being awkward (that part was mainly Hiccup) they had finally gotten together. Okay, so Ruffnut had to admit that that was pretty great. She didn't know when she had last seen Hiccup so happy and Astrid so non-violent. They really brought out the best in each other.
But now, the happy couple had left Ruffnut in a rather difficult position. "You look beautiful." A deep cocky voice said from behind her. She jumped and turned to come face-to-face with Snotlout hovering in the air on Hookfang. "Really," He said grinning lopsidedly, "You do."
"Bleh," Ruffnut gagged before turning and leaping off her branch. She hit the ground hard, but ignoring the pain surging through her legs, she got up and began to trudge through the woods. Snotlout followed her slowly on Hookfang, grinning the whole time. "How did you even find me?" Ruffnut demanded. Her hiding place had been perfect.
"Love lead me to you," Snotlout jumped off Hookfang, and rushed forward so he could walk next to Ruffnut. She rolled her eyes and scoffed. Sure, love. Only three days ago he had been using the same cheesy lines on Astrid before she started dating Hiccup.
"Hey Ruffnut!" A smaller voice called and in a few second it's large body emerged from the woods. Fishlegs smiled and the pair as he stepped out of the bushes. "I was wondering if you wanted to train with Meatlug and me. Did you know that Meatlug is the best at hovering?"
"Who cares about hovering?" Snotlout demanded, "Hookfang is the best dragon. Ever." He threw a grin at Ruffnut as if he was charming her. She only gagged.
"Okay," Fishlegs grinned, his head filling with 'fun' facts about Meatlug. "Did you know that Gronkles…." His next words were a blur of words like food and lava. Ruffnut didn't pay attention, it didn't interest her and she was trying to plan her escape. Snotlout shot back a snarky comment and in the moment before the two boys began arguing Ruffnut took off into the woods. She assumed that it would take a while before either of the boys realized she was gone.
Yes, this was all Hiccup and Astrid's fault. When they began going out that left Ruffnut the only single girl their age. That meant that Snotlout and Fishlegs began competing for her affection in their own unique ways. Snotlout liked to flirt with her, constantly. She use to think that Astrid went a bit overboard with throwing her axe at Snotlout when he flirted with her, but now that it was her he was flirting with, she was beginning to consider carrying around an axe, too. Fishlegs on the other hand, liked to tell her facts about dragons. Thinking was enough to hurt her brain, but dragon thinking? She was surprised her brain hadn't exploded, already. All this was enough to put her off of romance forever.
"Hey beautiful!" Snotlout called from behind her, "Where'd you go?" Ruffnut cursed under her breath and began to run faster. Yes, this was all their fault. Stupid happy couples.
