"What are you doing?" a blond boy poked his head into a train car near the end of the train. A scrawny black haired boy sat on one side playing with a fluffy bright green worm thing that was crawling all over his fingers and an equally scrawny girl with the same dark hair was propped in the corner holding a thin book with no pages. She prodded a button and the page magically changed.
The boy looked up and spun his worm over to his next hand. "Nothing. Just-" A boy with jet black hair and bright green eyes elbowed the blonde boy aside.
"Shove off Scorpius. Leave the poor kids alone." the boy scooted his way into the car with a small red haired girl in his wake. "The name is Al Potter an' this is Rosie Weasley. …And I take it you are muggle-borns."
"Wait- how did you.." The boy's worm abruptly stopped moving as if it too was surprised by the bright eyed boy's assessment.
"You didn't recognize myself and Rosie. We are... well our parents are rather famous." He grinned and pointed to his forehead as if that was supposed to clue the muggle-born boy in on his heritage. The girl stilled had not looked up from her strange book so Al turned to her. "We don't bite you know."
"We don't bite hard that is" added the small girl. Who had pulled a small kitten from somewhere and was teasing it with a bit of yarn.
The other girl looked up from her book and saw the kitten. Showing her first sign of interest, she cooed at the kitty. The kitty vanished suddenly and appeared on the dark haired girl's shoulder. She yelped but then giggled. "Wow pets are magical in this world too!"
The boy called "Al" hesitated. "but... isn't his fluffy worm pet magical too?" He gestured at the green worm which was now back to its tricks twisting and writhing all around the dark boy's hands.
"What this? Nooo this is just a magic worm. It is not alive. I call him Fred." The boy watched Fred fondly.
"It is not alive? But.. How?" Al looked amazed. "Did you perfect a Locomotor charm already?"
The muggle-born boy laughed and so did his friend. "Noo Al this is just a muggle magic."
"Muggles.. have have magic. I have seen it. But not like this. Theirs was trickery. This can't be-"
Rosie coughed softly and grinned at Al, who had jumped like he saw a ghost. "Anyway," She chimed in, "Neither of you have offered up your names willingly so think it's time to hex it out of you." She brandished a thin willowy pale colored wand at them alternately. It sent out a few gold sparks and the thin boy with the worm paled.
"Rosie!" chided a new boy in the door. He was dark haired like the other boy but had lighter colored eyes.
The red headed girl tucked her wand in her belt and made an innocent face. "Spoiling all the fun James. So rude."
Al mimicked the cough Rosie had made earlier. "Anyway. So what are your names. Seriously."
The thin boy smiled "The name is Blake and this is my twin sister Katalina. She is the older one by a few minutes. She never lets me live it down."
