"Draco?" Hermione asked.
"Hmm?" He replied, twirling a piece of her hair between his fingers, as they were lay on the couch.
"Why do you like me?" She asked, tentatively.
"What's not to like?" He replied, as if it was the most obvious thing on Earth. Well, it was to him anyway.
"I'm being serious!" She protested.
"Hermione, that's a really hard question." He admitted.
"Right, because there's not an answer." She said, avoiding his gaze and looking down.
"You're wrong." He said firmly, taking her face in his hands and making her look at him. "Because there's too many."
"W-what?" She stuttered, a shocked expression overcoming her.
"It's true, Hermione." He smiled. "I like you because there's lots to like."
"Really?" She asked, unsure of herself.
Truth is, when they had first started dating, Hermione didn't quite believe it to be true. As if it would turn out to be some sort of joke. She still did, sometimes.
"Of course." He answered. "Why would I lie to you?"
"I-I-" She started, but then took a deep breath. "You could have anybody, Draco. Why me?"
"Because, I don't want just anybody. I want you, Miss Granger." He said, booping her nose.
"But why?" She pressed.
"Jeez, you sure ask a lot of questions." He sighed and immediately regretted it when he caught her looking a way, sadly. He turned her face again. "But I'll gladly answer them."
She half smiled at him and he pulled her down, into a hug.
"I don't like you, Hermione. I love you." He said, whispering into her ear. "And I don't care how cringey it sounds, I'll tell you and keep telling you until you believe me. Even then, I'll keep telling you."
"I...love you, too." She said, slowly and then smiling. "Thank you."
"Why would you ask that anyway?" He asked, wanting to brush off any of her concerns.
"I just...when I look at other girls, they seem so much...so perfect." She said, in a small voice, as if she was ashamed.
"No one is perfect, Hermione." He reassured.
"You can't be so sure." She retorted. "Maybe there is, there are certainly a lot close to it."
"Well, in that case-" He started, smiling at her. "If perfect's what you're looking for then just stay the same, Granger." Draco said, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
