A response to Miss Kitty's songfic challenge (ended up as a vidfic, tho).

Disclaimer: None of the Gundam Wing characters belong to me. I am simply borrowing them for entertainment purposes only. The song "She" belongs to Green Day. So don't sue. Besides, it's not worth it when the one being sued has nothing other than their own temporary sanity to offer. (Trust me when I say that it isn't much. -.-;;)

Warnings: a bit of angst

"She"

She screams in silence,
A sullen riot penetrating through her mind.

Relena cries out silently in her sleep, her dream bordering on the edge of a nightmare.

Waiting for a sign to smash the
silence with the brick of self control

She stands on top of a hill, alone, gazing towards the night sky. An obvious plea for help etched across her upturned face. A shooting star falls across the darkness.

Are you locked up in a world
That's been planned out for you

In her office, she stands next to a window, the frame of which looks somewhat like prison bars. Behind her, her secretary is telling her of the various meetings and interviews that have been scheduled for her today. Relena continues to look out the window not really paying any attention to the other.

Are you feeling like a
Social Tool without a use?

Relena standing behind a podium making a speech advocating Absolute Pacifisim. She can see the slight pity behind the gazes of the people listening, each one hoping but not believing. Finished, she walks off-stage and looks at her hands, shaking with doubt.

Scream at me until my ears bleed
I'm taking heed just for you

Colony representatives are clamoring for Relena's attention. Each one believing that their problems are worse than the others. Despite her headache, Relena pays each one equal attention and promises to do her best.

She's figured out all her doubts
Were someone else's point of view

She looks around her and sees a number of nameless politicians all crowding her and telling her that the things she is doing are wrong, that they won't help, and for a moment its obvious that she begins to believe them. Then suddenly she shakes her head, as though clearing her mind of a smothering fog, and pushes her way through the people surrounding her until she can see clearly.

Waking up this time to smash the
silence with the brick of self control

Relena sits up abruptly in bed, the remnants of her dream still creeping through her mind. She stands and walks to her mirror. The look on her face is one of tired resignation. She tilts her head downwards until her face is not visible. A few long seconds later she lifts her head and fiery determination is seen in her eyes.
