It's the moments that you don't expect to matter that end up mattering the most.
Whenever you expect something to happen, it never does. For example, in the third grade during a birthday party for Tess McAdams, I was 100% positive that my crush, Omega, would kiss me. It needed to happen; I had been "in love" with him since I laid eyes on him during homeroom in the beginning of the year and I knew he felt the same way. How can you love someone so wholly and devotedly and not get those feelings reciprocated?
However, as I said before, things you are 100% positive will happen usually never do. That night, Omega didn't kiss me; instead, he kissed Lissa Moore, the prettiest girl and most popular in our grade. I learned that night about unrequited love. Omega didn't have feelings for me; he probably didn't even know I existed. While I stayed up all night thinking about what he would say to me when we spoke and where we would go get ice-cream, he was thinking about Lissa. I was crushed; I vowed to myself that night that I would not succumb to being a young, naive girl and would not let a boy control my life. Instead, I would be independent and powerful on my own.
Back to my original point- it's the moments that you don't expect to matter that end up mattering the most.
I didn't expect that meeting him would set my life on a different course. I didn't know that by knowing him and learning his deepest secrets and fears, I was strapping myself on his roller coaster, without a shot of getting off. If I had known things would get so intense, would I have still made the decisions I did? Would I be where I am today?
If I had known this period in my life mattered, would it matter at all?
this is the prologue to a new story I've been working on. I know that it's really short, and that's the way it's supposed to be. The chapters will be over a thousand words each, so don't worry. If this prologue interested you, please review and let me know! This story will be about the Flock in high school, but it will not be a cliche story... Thanks for reading!
