I recently became determined to write a drabble. As a writer of epic fanfiction, I have always had respect for writers who can do drabbles, but the skill elludes me. What I ended up with was a body of ficlets mostly too long for drabble-length but shorter than even the usual length of my rare short fics. Some are connected to my Rediscovered Hearts AU and some are just random. So I'm just going to post each one separately because there's no rhyme or reason to them so it doesn't make sense to do a "collection".

When it started, he was doing it to find Sha're. There were worlds to see, cultures to explore, things that most of his archaeological contemporaries could only dream of doing, touching. All of that was secondary to Daniel. What mattered, what really mattered, was finding her and finding a way to save her.
Then she was gone. After that, he
wondered why he kept doing it. None of the things he could see and learn seemed
to matter without her. Eventually, that changed, and he grieved because it
changed. Yet sometimes, he still wonders why he keeps doing it. The only answer
he has is that sometimes, just sometimes, he can still feel her breath, still
touch her hand, still taste her lips—and he knows that it is simply and purely
what she would want. She had given his life meaning. She still did.
