Scarlet ran through the bare, brown snow covered trees of the forest that surrounded her manor. She ran as fast and as hard as she could trying to evade her pursuer. The soft white snow flew everywhere as she ran through the semi darkness. The cold winter wind blew her snow drenched raven black hair all around her and it stung her dark ocean blue eyes as it blew into her pale cold face. Even though Scarlet had no idea who or what her pursuer was, she knew she had to keep moving because if she stopped for too long then she would be killed. However, Scarlet also knew that if she didn't stop soon she would pass out, and either way she would die. Scarlet was scared and angry at the same time. The only things that she knew about her pursuer was that they killed her family and she was next. So she ran, her heart pounding loudly in her chest and her breaths becoming heavier and heavier as she ran through the cold January night. Feeling short of breath Scarlet stopped by an old oak tree not realizing that her pursuer had caught up with her. When she turned around she was almost face to face with her cloaked pursuer, who was standing only one foot away from Scarlet. Scarlet screamed as her pursuer brought up their ax and swung it at her.
Scarlet bolted up right covered in cold sweat and screaming, just like in her nightmare. As soon as she started to calm herself down her bedroom door burst open, and her five servants stood in the doorway staring around her room looking for any sign of trouble. Seeing that there wasn't any danger her butler, James, asked "What happened, mi'lady?"
"Just another nightmare." Scarlet said with a shaky voice. James and the other servants stepped into her room closing the door behind them and sat down on her bed. James, a handsome young man with flighty light brown hair and hazel eyes, sat to the left of Scarlet taking her left hand in his. To her right sat another handsome young man, he was the gardener and his name was Dylan. Dylan smiled a warm, comforting, charming smile that made his dark forest green eyes sparkle and he tilted his head slightly making his dark blond hair fall into his eyes. On the corners of the bed sat her two young and beautiful maids, Rosanna and Jessica. Rosanna's strawberry blond hair was slightly curled and her bright purple eyes sparkled like dark amethysts as she smiled at Scarlet. Jessica, who's brown hair was down and flowed around her shoulders also smiled at Scarlet and made her golden yellow eyes gleam and sparkle like the sun. In between the two young maids sat a somewhat childish looking young man named Anthony. Anthony, who preferred to go by Tony, was Scarlet's very talented chef with black hair that had dark purple highlights and burgundy eyes. Scarlet looked at the five of them and smiled a bit as she held James' hand a bit tighter. It was a comfort to know that she wasn't entirely alone.
"You need to go back to sleep, mi'lady." James said kindly as he stroked the top of her head with the hand she wasn't holding, which caused her to smile sweetly back at him.
Scarlet looked over at Rosanna and Jessica, then asked, "Would the two of you stay with me for the remainder of the night?"
"Of course, mi'lady." the two girls said with a sweet smile. Then the two girls curled up close to her. The last things Scarlet heard as she drifted off into sleep was everyone wishing her a good night and the sound of James gently closing the door.
