DEADLY GAMES

I watched the savage beast hunt me. Her eyes reflecting the pale light and her movements are slow, steady, and deadly. I remain as still as I possibly can, knowing that one sudden move could cost me dearly. My breathing is shallow and nearly non-existence thus making myself as quiet as the breeze. I watch the beast move to my left; she's sizing me up. She's waiting for the moment to strike; looking for my weakness.
But, as long as I'm still breathing, I'm not going to be showing any weaknesses. If she wants me, she'll have to make the first move. And when she does…I'll be ready.
The moment of the strike comes and I'm ready. The beast flies at me and I- expertly might I add -move aside and watch its body fly past me. The animal lands on its paws and turns back to face me. A dangerous glint is in its eyes, but I give it a sneer. With a low growl and hiss, the beast begins its circuling again.
With caluculating moves, it stalks me again. But, now I know its learned its lesson; it won't miss next time. A slamming of a door distractes me and when I turn back to my battle the beast is in mid-flight.
"Ahh!" I feel the animal's claws dig into my chest as I fall to the ground. I know that if I am to survive, I can't stop fighting yet. With a quick move, I roll to my knees and the beast is thrown off.
In a last ditch attempt to save myself, I try to stand, but the animal is too fast. I feel its weight as it lands on my back. My elbows give out and I hear (and painfully feel) my chin hit the hardfloor surface. I can feel my legs and arms flaying uselessly at my side and know I won't be able to get to my feet again…
…I've lost.
"Li?" I hear Meilin calling for me and only wish she leaves before the beast tries to attack her.
The door to the room, the only thing containing the beast, is slowly being opened and I stare up in horror as Meilin opens the door.
"NO!" The beast scampers off of me and I watch as she runs to Meilin. "No…no…nonono!"
She watches the beast and looks back at me laying on my stomach on the ground. "What are you doing to poor Fluffy?"
"Um…well…I was…uh…trying to give her a bath."
"WHAT?!?" Meilin bends down and picks up the small, white kitten. I can hear the beast purring from my spot on the floor. "You know how she hates water." She puts the kitten's face to hers. "Was big, bad Li trying to hurt the little, wittle baby?" The cat mews in reponse and I swear she's smiling. Meilin, however, is not. I never knew she could give such annoyied, angry stares. She's putting my glare to disgrace.
Fluffy runs her head under Meilin's chin in a bonding moment. I'm out-numbered by girls…great. Meilin bends down and is looking at me (still on my stomach). "Wei said you have to make dinner."
She straightens and turns around. I see Fluffy climb on her shoulder and look back at me. The beast gives me one of those cat smiles. It thinks its won…
…but tomorrow's another day.
And I always win.
