"Sweetie, could you please roll your window up? It's starting to rain."

"Rain isn't the worst thing that could happen to this car." she mumbled darkly

The mom's eyes flicked to her daughter staring numbly at the specks of water beginning to hit the windshield.

"We're almost there."

"Almost where? We're out in the middle of nowhere."

"Our new home."

"Seriously? Could this get anymore typical?"

The mom sighed and flicked her eyes towards Sen; her daughter.

Sen scoffed. "You don't see it?"

"No..."

"The hopeful but desperate mom drives her moody teenage daughter out to a completely remote and nearly abandon house only to have the hottest guy in school fall for the said daughter and be the only one on her side when weird stuff starts to happen."

"Well you have something to look forward to." she smirked as she turned onto the highway

A small smirk tugged at Sen's lips despite her dark mood. Soon they pulled onto a stretch of highway which had been overtaken with so much cud zoo it appeared the very earth was made from the dark plant.

"Woah. When I said abandoned I didn't mean it literally." Sen whispered

The rain picked up pace as they drove forward and wound around a curve revealing mountains on either side of the plant. Just behind some drooping trees, on the very edge of their vision, an ancient stone wall stood leading their eyes up to a bike path just above their heads. The many vines crawling up the sides and wrapping themselves around the lamp posts, and crumbling corners lent to an unshakable abandon feeling.

"Where does that path come from?" Sen asked once they had passed underneath it

"I can't see anything beyond that wall of plants on either side. Maybe there's a road somewhere that's been closed so no one can go up."

Sen craned her neck to stare back at the path and it's mystery. The lingering fog and steady rainfall, seemingly only surrounding the wall and bridge, held her gaze until the car moved around another curve

"That place made my skin crawl." her mom muttered

"It was so sad."

"Sad? Sen, a bike path can't be sad."

"So many bad things must've happened there."

"It did look miserable." she agreed, "But it's just the weather."

"I'm taking my bike up as soon as I finish unpacking."

"No you won't."

"I'm 19."

"Oh, that's going to stop you from getting hurt isn't it?"

"I'll be careful. It's not like i'm stupid or anything."

"You don't even know how to get there! How're you going to find out where it is if you don't know the slightest thing about this area?" her mom snapped

Sen sat back in her seat and stared out the windshield with such determination that her mom eventually gave up and merely sighed.

"You better find the hottest guy at college so he can take you there."

"I'll find it myself, thanks." Sen smirked though she wasn't joking and her mom knew it.
