Hello! Its been a while since I published something on here, I started a story but inspiration fled :( However one night I got inspired (!) and wrote this ficlet. I do apologise about the brevity of it by the way :) So, read, enjoy, review and have a nice day!

Years

He came to her for her hand almost exactly three years after they started courting. Five years since she had looked at him across the crowded hall and found more than affection in her heart for him. Almost ten years after he had come to her father's court with a message from a Vala. A lightning quick courtship, like his life was going to be.

It was strange that she even cared how many years it had been, after all, she was going to live forever, what were years but fleeting moments? Maybe it was because he was mortal; he didn't have forever, just the here and now. Maybe that was why the years had come to mean more.

At first she had recoiled from the thought of love, of marriage, of children, with a mortal. She could see herself weeping over his tired, worn body as he breathed his last. The comparison between her young face and his: old, wrinkled, yet familiar. She refused to put both of them through that tearing apart. She did not remain adamant for long, though, her determination faded after he romanced her with all the gentleness of a child with a butterfly on his finger. Not long, like the years. Not long
