Kisses in the rain
"James, wait!" said a very frantic Lily, running to catch up to the messy black haired boy walking away from her.
"Lily, I don't want to hear it," he said picking up his pace.
"James, will you just let me explain, please?" she said. She noticed that he was running towards the front doors.
James however, ignored her. He kept on walking as fast as he could towards the doors. He couldn't believe what she had done. After all these years of hurting him, nothing compared to this. Nothing.
He quickly walked out the doors, into the pouring rain. He made his way towards the lake. He had almost gotten there when someone grabbed his shoulder.
"James, please! Just hear me out. Let me explain why I did it," Lily said with sadness and hurt evident in her voice.
"Okay then Lily, explain. Explain to me why the hell you kissed my best friend right in front of me." he didn't wait for an answer, he just carried on with his rant. All his built up anger of being rejected for the past six years finally coming out. "You knew that I liked you. I have shown you that ever since second year when I first asked you out. Time after time you rejected me, yet I still kept trying. Do you want to know why Evans? I love you. There I finally told you. I love you more than anything in this world; every time you rejected me you broke my heart in two. Do you have any idea how that feels?"
Lily was shocked. His words had cut deep. Not only that but he hadn't called her Evans for almost five years. Now she knew how he felt. She herself had recently begun to have feelings for him. Her heart was breaking as she finally realised how much she had hurt him over the years.
"James…I-"
"Save it Evans, I can't take much more. Just leave me alone."
Lily looked into his hazel eyes; they were full of hurt and heart break. His face was soaking wet from the rain but she suspected that some of it could also be tears.
"No, haven't you figured it out yet?" she asked. "God James, you're denser than I thought."
His eyes were now full of confusion. She smiled in spite of herself. Then she did something that, until this year, she would have thought revolting. She grabbed hold of his shirt collar and pulled him closer to her. She cupped his face with one hand while the other found its way to his wet hair. She pressed her lips to his and gave him short sweet kiss.
As she was about to pull away however, James wound his arms around her waist and lifted her up. She wound her legs around his waist as they started to kiss with heated passion. James ran his tongue across her bottom lip asking for entrance, which she gladly gave him. He slid his tongue into her mouth and started exploring every inch of it.
Finally, when breathing became mandatory, Lily gently pulled away. James looked deep into those emerald green eyes he loved so much. He couldn't see any repulsion by what they had just done or hate for him, all he saw was love and desire.
"I love you too," she whispered leaning her forehead against his, her wet hair falling around her face.
Breathing heavily, James put her down. Did he hear her right? Did she just admit that she loved him?
See in the confusion in his eyes she said it again. "James Harold Potter, I love you. I only did what I did to make you jealous. I'm sorry, can you forgive me?"
His only response was to kiss her again.
Lily giggled. "I will take that as a 'yes' then."
He led her back indoors. When he looked back into the sky he noticed a rainbow had appeared.
'Yes," he thought smiling to himself. "The rain is defiantly more fun than the sun,'
