Stay
In one last defeated plea, Buffy sank to the floor, her knees giving out.
"JUST STOP RUNNING!"
Inhaling a shaky breath, her eyes clamped shut in an attempt to keep the forbidden tears at bay. However, it was to no avail as when she finally looked up, they cascaded down her face leaving a hot scarlet trail in their descent. Her limp body shook uncontrollably as years of pent up emotion surged its way through mountainous walls buried in the very depths of her mind and out onto the desolate rooftop surrounding them.
"Please . . . just stay." The words left her lips in an exasperated sigh as they rang out into the night. A blaring silence followed the strangled cry, dragging itself out and diminishing any sign of hope that the fragile blonde may have been grasping on to.
"Okay,"
Buffy would have missed the word if she hadn't have been so intently focussed on the girl before her. Faith turned to her counterpart then, gazing into those pleading green orbs with newfound assertion as her next words left full dark lips.
"I'll stay."
