AN: I came up with this after watching episode 27 of Brotherhood. The writing like this is what Trisha had told him, just so you know. Enjoy.

"We are not pathetic, violent, creatures. We are just on the wrong path."

Van Hohenheim watched Edward, Alphonse and those others who had helped defeat Father. He watched as his son went crazy over his brother, making sure he was alright, and chuckled to himself.

"And I am sure we can change. Because we are weak. Because we can die."

How he wished he could go and join them, and celebrate with them. He wanted to talk to his sons and tell them he loved them, but in the end he decided against it. He had a feeling they knew already.

"We struggle to live, and we become stronger."

He took one more good look and his boys- no. They weren't boys, they were anything but that, they were men. He turned and made his one last journey. This time though he let himself enjoy it, because out of all his travels this was the most important, and the most special.

"And if your mind still isn't made up…"

So all of this war was over? He sure hoped so, now that there was nothing holding them back he knew they could do it.

"…try to remember…."

He didn't realize he was in Resembol until he was at Trisha's grave. He wasn't there when she had died, and he broke his promise, but he hoped this made up for it.

"Those days we spent in Resembol."

He remembered living in Resembol all to well. It was something he would never forget. He laughed a little remembering raising Edward. He remembered how much trouble he made for him and Trisha. But he would never trade those moments.

"I am back, Trisha."

Maybe she was right. Well of course she was, she was a very wise girl. Anyone can change, so then maybe, anyone can forgive.

"Edward called me "father", He did say "shit of a father" though."

Hohenheim felt his age catch up to him as he spoke, but he took his time with his words.

"I used to think that living a life longer was tiresome, but since I met you and our sons…"

He took a moment to remember his son's faces when they had retrieved their bodies back and defeated Father.

"For the first time I felt glad to be alive, from the bottom of my heart."

"It's been a fulfilling life."

He felt himself get older and older, and his hair change from gold to grey, but his smile stayed on his face.

"Yeah."

"It's enough…Thank you Trisha,"

He felt weaker and weaker. So tired.

"Yeah, but in the end I really don't want to die."

He couldn't see it, but his golden eyes dimmed. Like a light bulb's light fading.

"I am really hopeless."

He lent his head on her grave stone, and felt himself fall asleep, and as Trisha's last thoughts were of him, his were of her.

'Trisha...'

When Piniko had found him he still had that smile.
