The last scene of Countdown. It's extremely short, but anyways.. :)

Dedicated to my own Richard Castle, I love you. Always. 3

Rick Castle looked at his partner and smiled. "Hell of a day, huh?"
"Hell of a day," she smiled back. It really had been. Castle diffusing a bomb just by being his crazy self and saving not only both of their lives, but the whole city.

"You know, I was thinking...", Castle said, hesitantly. He stopped. He saw the dreaded tall figure walking towards them. "I was thinking maybe- I should go home. Get some rest. Long day. Goodnight."

He quickly but calmly left, while Beckett stood there confused. "Goodnight," she repeated back after he was already to far away to hear her. Then she felt the arms come around her, she turned slightly. She suddenly realised what had sparked her partner's exit. "Oh, hey," she said to Josh, with as much of a smile she could muster.

She pulled him in for a hug as her smile faded. She watched Rick enter the elevator and disappear from her sight. The tight arms around her were meant to be reassuring but somehow felt unnerving… they were not the arms she wanted around her.

Castle entered the elevator and leaned against the back wall. He tried to keep a straight face and stay composed but all he could think of was how much he wanted to be the one she was with. He wanted to be the one she was hugging right now.

He felt a lump form in his throat and had to let out a sigh of disbelief at his misfortune. He spent everyday with her, occasionally in life threatening situations… he felt like they were closer than ever, yet despite this, they would always be apart.
