If you had one day left as a human, how would you spend it?

Laying on the Salvatore couch, the sentence repeated itself over and over in my head. How was I going to spend it? I hadn't truly been human for a while now. How many humans invite vampires and werewolves to their birthday parties? How many humans go to their witch best friend for advice? How many humans have seen their best friends die like it's a joke?

I'm not human.

"I'm not human" I repeated out loud.

"What?" Damon chuckled.

I rolled my head over to face Damon. He was sitting opposite me on the twin couch pretending to read the Mystic Falls newspaper, his blue eyes smirking at the paper. I looked at him with a weak frown.

"I'm not human, Damon." My eyes wandered the ground as Damon rolled his.

"You're weak, foolish and you smell bad." My body shifts and I sit up on the couch resting my head on my hand.

"Trust me Elena, you're as human as it gets." He continued.

"But I'm not. I'm dating a vampire, my best friend is a witch, and I spend every waking minute hoping I'm not murdered by someone that has lived for thousands of years. I don't know how many humans you'll actually met," I lowered my eyebrows "but that doesn't seem human to me."

Damon's eyebrows lifted as he went back to "reading" the paper. A sigh escapes my mouth and I laid back down, staring blankly at the old wooden ceiling.

"I'm not human."

"We'll have to make today the best day ever, now won't we?" Stefan said as he walked into the living room drying his hair with a towel.

"Stef-" I shot up quickly but was pushed back down even quicker as I felt Stefan's lips on mine; his warm body pressing against my tee-shirt and jeans. He lingered for a bit, our lips touching, until he slowly retreated, a smile on his face.

"Today will be the best last-human day ever." Stefan said.

A smile found my face as I replied, "If only I could figure out a way to spend it..."

Stefan grabbed my hand and before I knew it I was spinning into his arms.

"Its good thing you have me as your boyfriend then." He smirked and kissed my nose.
