Special Touch

Her eyes opened. That one small movement meant the world to him, and for that moment in time, he felt as though they were the only two people in the world. He watched as she blinked and yawned, the smile never leaving his lips.

"Morning sweetheart…" Smithy whispered softly, watching her fingers curl around his index finger, brushing the backs of them with his thumb, cuddling the small bundle in his arms tighter to his body, smoothing the blanket between them. "You still tired?" He chuckled, watching her yawn again, kissing the hand that was waved in his face.

"Da."

The one word that could instantly soften him, no matter how tired, angry or stressed he was. His grin grew further, and he nodded. "Becca…"

"Da." Rebecca giggled, one arm striking against his as she tried to roll over, a pout lining her features as she realised she couldn't move. "Da?"

Smithy leant forward, placing her between his legs on the bed as she righted herself, crawling unsteadily over the bed, to peer curiously at the sleeping figure beside them. "Da!"

"…No, that's not daddy." Smithy chuckled, watching Charlie's sleeping form. "Mummy…"

"Da."

"Mummy…"

"Da."

"…Da."

Rebecca giggled, crawling back towards Smithy, her green eyes flashing a smile that was reflected in his, opening her mouth a little."

"Num?" Smithy lifted the dummy that was on the bedside table, pushing it into Rebecca's mouth as she smiled contentedly, curling back up between her fathers legs, fiddling with the seam of his trousers.

Charlie's eyes flickered and she slowly woke, jumping a little as Smithy reached out, looking to where he was gesturing. "How come she never wakes up like that when you're not here?" She smiled tiredly, pulling herself up to a sitting position, watching Rebecca.

"Special touch." Smithy smirked, kissing her forehead.
