A man was hiding in a bush, watching kids come out of a orphans' school. He was looking for at least one kid in paticular. One or more that would find the thing that will triger their powers...
A boy and a girl seperated from the group. The girl was smiling, laughter in her eyes.It seems the boy was saying something.
"Seriously, Jesse, you couldn't tell a joke to save your life!" The girl said.
"It made you laugh, didn't it,Katie?" Jesse protested.
"Only becuase it was so pathetic!" Katie retorted.
Jesse rolled his eyes "Yeah, sure.Just admit it!I'm funny!"
"Funnily pathetic!" Katie teased, running ahead of him.
Jesse ran after her "Wait up!I'll get you for saying that!" He joked.
"See!" Katie yelled over her shoulder. She stopped in front of a strawberry bush "Joking, yet not funny!"
"That wasn't meant to be a funny joke," He said.He looked at the bush "How about we have some of those. It's been hours since lunch, and I'm starving." He moved some long black hair out of his eyes.
Katie looked at him slyly through her long brown hair "You're always starving, Jess.Luckily,I am also hungry,so you shall be excused."
Jesse rolled his eyes again "Lets just eat!"He picked a strawberry and ate one at the same time Katie had popped another one in her mouth.
There they were, The man thought as a faint blue went through Katie's aura and red went through Jesse's.There were the first two. His lips lifted into a cruel smile before he disappeared suddenly.
Katie and Jesse soon finished and walked over to a building next to the school, gonig inside and going into a small room with a fire and a fish bowl with a fish in it.
"I see our fish is alright," Katie commented as she sat on a stool next to the fish, watching it swim around.
"Thats surprising," Jesse said honestly as he sat on another stool, this one next to the fire.
Katie followed the fish around with her finger and the water churned slightly, unnoticed by her.
Jesse stared into the fire and it jumped slightly higher then usual, but this also went unnoticed.
Katie said "Okay,I'm bored.We need a life."
"We need a family," Jesse muttered.
"Aw,stop saying things like that! We're fine on our own! You wouldn't want to be in a different family then me,right?"Katie asked.
Jesse looked at her,and the fire went down "I guess your right,Katie."
Katie smiled.
They had come to the orphanage at the same time, and had been friends ever since. They were so close they were like brother and sister.
Jesse returned the smile. "Though it would be awesome if we could get out of here."
Katie nodded her agreement "I wish we could! We're strong,we could live on our own!" She pumped a fist in the air and the water in the fist bowl jumped up,then rushed down into the bottom. This was noticed.
"Whoa!" They said at the same time "What was that?" Jesse said alone.
"I... I don't know," Katie said. She opened up her fist and nothing happened.
"Maybe you need feeling... have that feeling again!" Jesse said.
Katie gathered up that energy she just had,and this time a sphere of water appeared in her hand. "That's awesome!" She said, even though it dropped a few seconds later.
"Maybe I can do something... " Jesse gathered up a forceful energy and emotion, and a sphere of fire appeared in his hand. "AH!" He yelled, and the fire dropped, though it didn't burn anything, just as the sphere of water didn't get anything wet.
They looked at each other in amazement.
The man was now kneeling in front of a shadowed throne. "I have found the first two..." He said.
"Good,"A even harsher voice replied.A man leaned forward, revealing a skull for a face.
