Well lately i love these little drabbles. So heres another, expect more too. Oh and there is a quote from a film in here. I've been throwing them in lately and you can expect more of those too! Enjoy ;)
One candle wish
It had been a while, a long while, since most of them were all in the same room together. It was good. It felt good. They weren't all here- and when he thinks about it the last time they were all together was probably the island- but that was expected because they couldn't all be here tonight. He knew the faces that should be here though, he knew they would have come if they could. Death is the only thing that stopped them, and now he realises that even he can't control god.
The small tea lights that surrounded the garden reminded him of that night, when he and many others fell from the sky, they reminded him of how he slept under the stars on the beach- he'd always wanted to go camping as a kid and used to imagine what it was like to lay down and just listen to nature and see the stars shining impossibly bright in the sky- water lapping the shore eventually drove his eyes to close and in the end he let the darkness consume him.
The birthday cake candle danced with the light breeze and in his ear he could hear small whispers of making a birthday wish. He closed his eyes, searched his thoughts and then wished. His eyes open once again he blew the candle out to the sounds of cheers and clapping.
Then a voice from the crowd shouted 'speech'- he thinks it was Hurley but who knows, voices fade into one at his age, and suddenly, inevitably he was reminded of that place again. The many times he had pleaded with them to respect each other, look out for each other, everyman for himself will not work!
"Well...it's been a while since you've all heard one of my speeches I guess, so I'll keep it short..."
"Fat chance." Sawyer.
"I thought about sneaking away tonight. I don't know why I didn't but I'm glad I stayed because every face I see is a memory. It may not be a great memory. Sometimes we've had our ups and downs. But we're all together, and that's what matters. And I'm going to break precedent and tell you my one candle wish: that you would have a life as lucky as mine, where you can wake up one morning and say, 'I don't want anything more.'... Sixty-five years. Don't they go by in a blink?" He smiles, looks at each face one more time and is satisfied that yes, eventually, he saved them all.
