Smile

Walking through the rain

A cold wind slices by

I shudder

But I hear your steps behind me

Tromping through the wet and muddy path

I turn to your face

You look up, embarrassed but happy

The raindrops look like tears sliding down your cheeks

My heart aches on this walk

I hold my arms close to my chest

You ask if I need my coat back

Shaking, I tell you to keep it

The rain doesn't stop

It just becomes consistent

As we walk, my heart aches more

I cough

You tell me to take my coat back

I keep walking

You run ahead, thrusting the coat to me

I collapse, the world turning back

The first thing I remember when I open my eyes again is seeing your face

A raindrop from your eyes lands on my head

And you smile

I actually wrote this for my Creative Writing Class this past semester during my "hiatus". Even though it's not overtly AdvanceShipping, I wrote the song while listening to Smile, one of the Japanese Endings to Pocket Monsters Advance Generation. I actually wrote it, thinking about Ash and May, so it seemed appropriate enough.
