A/N: This is a short one-shot not based on any fandom, so it could also be called an original short story.

A chilly wind blew around a tall man standing before a white tomb, curly dark hair framing his face. He was holding a bouquet of flowers, from chrysanthemums to daisies, from roses to lilies. His green eyes were red-rimmed and his face blotchy. His younger sister, Adelaide, stood next to him, not daring to speak a word.
After several minutes, Adelaide spoke up. "We should go now, Wilhelm. The sun is setting, and Mother will be worried about us. You know how fussy and overprotective she is." She gestured at the setting sun, glowing with the beautiful colours of red, orange, pink, and light violet. Wilhelm nodded, but did not tear his eyes away from the tomb.
"Go now," he rasped. "I will follow you later, Adele. Give me a few moments of privacy." Adele nodded and did not question her brother's order. She immediately turned around and headed towards their car while looking over her shoulder every now and then.
Finally, everything was quiet except for the birds' chirping as they gathered above the cemetery's trees. Then the man knelt down and placed the bouquet on top of the tomb. He was silent for a while, then he murmured, "I'm so sorry for failing you. I should have stopped him before it was too late. I was a coward. I didn't keep my promise to you." He paused then continued, "I hope you'll forgive me, Liz. And…" He swallowed. "And wherever you are, I hope you're happy. That's all I . . . I have to say. For now."
Wilhelm stood up, satisfied with his words, and picked up some of his things that had fallen to the ground. But before he walked away, he whispered the two words he'd forgotten to say at her funeral.
Goodbye, Elisa.

A/N: So . . . was it nice? Personally, it was okay, though I think Ma Fin Heureuse was better than this short one-shot, and tell me if this needs some editing. Read, rate, and review, please?
