A/N: while this is no where near my first fanfic, it is my first NCIS one. So, enjoy, reviews are greatly appreciated, and constructive criticism is welcome. And yes I do realize this Judgment Day tag is rather late, and I don't particularly care.

Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Mike Franks sat next to each other in a bar. For the last fifteen minutes Gibbs had been trying to get details of the last day out of his old mentor. Franks hadn't said much.
Jenny was dead, most of Gibbs admitted that. The part of him that refused tobelieve it was, most likely, the part that kept him from unzipping the body bag in Autopsy. As long as he hadn't seen the body part of him could still believe she was alive.
Mike Franks twisted the glass in his hand, considering how best to say what he wanted to. "Jethro," he started.
This got Gibbs's attention. He could count the times Mike had called him Jethro on one hand.
"Not sure whether it makes it harder or easier," Mike continued, "but she still loved you." With that Mike had nothing left to say, "See you Probie." He stood up and walked out the door.
Gibbs wasn't sure whether it would be easier or harder knowing what he now knew, but he now knew there was one thing he had to do before the funeral tomorrow.

Gibbs walked through the sliding doors of autopsy, "Duck, where is she?" he asked the M.E.
"74, second row from the bottom," Ducky replied, not having to stop for a second to figure out who his old friend was referring to.
Gibbs opened the drawer and pulled out the body. Very few people knew how the Director of NCIS actually met her demise, and as such the body would not be released till the closed casket funeral tomorrow. Gibbs folded back the covering over the body so he could see her face.
He blinked once or twice to convince himself that the body in front of him was actually Jenny Shepard. It was. He couldn't kid himself any longer. "Jen, why didn't you tell me?" he asked, though he already knew the answer. They had agreed to break it off, agreed that it wouldn't work, and since that day both of them had been trying to convince themselves that they had no feelings for each other. Gibbs sighed, "And I still loved you too. Good-bye Jen," With that he covered her back up, slid her back into place and closed the door.
