Katara: "Zuko, don't worry. We can take Azula."
Zuko: "I'm not worried about her. I'm worried about Aang."
Azure energy sears through him. Azula's attack claws stealing control; of his muscles, his breath, his awareness. Zuko's final act is to clamp his eyes shut, but instead of darkness images flow between him and the pain.
A taller, bearded, Aang gazes into his eyes. Katara lounges with Toph's feet in her lap both girls comfortable among red and gold. Four hands rest on the swell of Katara's belly; her dark one, Aang's arrowhead, Toph's space-rock circled wrist, and his own. A boy with gray eyes in yellow and orange Andender's robes sits with a girl who resembles Zuko's mother. Two girls; one with white hair the other dark, barely distinguishable from the mud on their faces. Toph and Katara stand over them.
He opens his eyes to Katara's tear-streaked face, and her water-encased hands above his chest.
"Thank you, Katara."
A/N: This is my interpretation of the future. It fits into the rest of my Avatar Head Cannon established in "Obstacles" although it is set before that story chronologically.
For those following ZukAang Week 2013 sorry this is late. Real life has gotten in the way.
