Chapter 1:

Lovely Beginnings

For the first time in 3 days 6 hours and 42 minutes, Dr. Spencer Reid was finally home. The unwanted images of the victim, Stefan Mache, from the case they just solved was burned into his mind. Which wasn't uncommon because of his eidetic memory. Opening the door to his condo, he searched for the light switch as soon as possible. He didn't like being in the dark if he could help it. The condo Reid lived in wasn't small but wasn't too big either. It had the essentials; sofa, table, kitchen appliances,, even a T.V that was rarely used. The walls were bare but had some photographs like the one of his mother and the team. I'm home. There was never anyone to answer him so his mind was the next best place. He took off the tie that was choking him all day. It didn't hurt him since he was used to it but he longed to wear plain t-shirts like Morgan but knew he could never pull it off. Realizing the eerie silence of the house he turned on the television to the first thing that caught his eye: Lila. She was being interviewed by something called Star World. Its been 2 years and 46 days since he's seen the beautiful and stunning Lila Archer. She didn't change much but something was different about her. The fact that she didn't have that stressed yet rebellious look. He was still standing with his mouth open wide. She had that effect on him, to make him freeze and his mind think of nothing else but her. In his mind he was replaying the events that happened in the pool. Lila...Lila... Reid's mind said over and over again. The way she laughed and smiled was burned into his eidetic memory. Finally breaking from his trance, he went to sit down and pay attention to the interview.

"Well Lila I hear that you will be in a movie soon." The interviewer said. Her name has Rachelle Baxter but Reid didn't care.

"Yes I am. Its called "Lovely Beginnings" Lila replied. Mental Note- Ask someone to come see the movie with him. "We're finished the movie and the premiere is coming soon. I just have to remember to find a date." She winked to the audience. They hooted and screamed things like "I'll go with you any day,"and "We love you Lila!"

"All right, all right. I'm sure we would all like to be Lila's date-" Rachelle began but was interrupted by the screaming fans. "Lila do you have anyone in mind?" Rachelle said, trying to calm down the crazed fans.

"Well there is one guy..." Lila started. Reid leaned forward. Could it be? She found a replacement for him? True, there wasn't anything about him that could appeal to the movie star but still he had hoped.

"Wohoooooo!" the audience screamed.

"Now you have to tell us! Who is this mystery man? Do we know him? Is he cute?" Rachelle gushed. Spencer looked down at himself. Nothing mysterious, not very well known. He wasn't that cute compared to the other guys surrounding Lila. Reid was sure he wasn't the guy.

"Well that's a secret for now." She put one finger to her lip. "I'll say one thing though... He's very special to me." The crowd went wild. Begging for more details. One girl even fainted and that's when the show ended. Reid turning off the T.V. and ran his fingers through his silky brown hair. He jumped when the phone rang.

"Hello? JJ? ...Sure I'll be right there...No it's okay I wasn't doing anything special...No! I'm fine really, just wished I could have slept some more...okay bye." He dropped the phone and leaned back into the sofa. He once again thought about himself, the way he looked. His brown eyes were underlined with deep bags, his hair was always tangled and the only thing he wore wasties and sweaters. It can't be me. With that last thought, he got up and got ready for work.
