Chapter 1:

The secret child

Professor Dumbledore was a busy wizard – a magical being– tonight, what with Harry Potter's delivery to the Dursleys and all. He was a man with a long silvery beard and hair, half moon glasses, and a twinkle in his electric blue eyes. As the professor walked into the destroyed Potter house, putting spells on it to keep it from prying Muggle – non-magical beings – eyes, when a sudden wailing filled the air. He entered an untouched deserted room, which happened to hold a baby girl who was obviously a Potter. She had a scar on the top right of her forehead. She was wrapped in a blanket that said Melody.

"Are you sad?" he asked in a kind voice, rocking Melody as she gurgled. Obviously the Potters had kept this child a secret from the world, so no one could get to her. "The Dursley's will probably not want you, so I shall take care of you." Melody giggled and tried to grab his shiny beard with her tiny wet hands. She must have been crying, and was thankful for a distraction.

As they walked away from the house, Dumbledore disapparated down the narrow street. He was standing in a small village and he walked up to a large schoolground. They walked down torch lit hallways until they reached a gargoyle.

"Sugar Quills." At once the gargoyle stepped out of the way to reveal a revolving staircase similar to an escalator. Two sets wooden doors were at the top of the stairway. He went into the first pair.

They were in his office, with all the yawning portraits of previous headmasters of Hogwarts, a school of witchcraft and wizardry. It was a golden room with an empty cage on it for a Pheonix. There were many shelves, and on top of one, there was a patched hat, snoring.

"Who's she?" asked a painted witch headmistress in a poofy pink dress and powder white pompadour. Dumbledore cradled Melody and the baby yawned. Now there were two wizards who had defeated Voldemort, the most powerful dark wizard the wizard world has seen.

"Another survivor," he answered softly and pulled out his wand. A cradle appeared next to a cage that contained a fiery bird, a Phoenix. He lay the girl into the crib, and she fell asleep instantly, not knowing her brother was famous or even having a care in the world. The only sight before the baby slept, was a twinkle in a kind eye.
