A Thousand & One Nights
By SMYGO4EVA

In all of his years of life and after death, Edward was used to being alone. He had built a wall around himself. If anyone came to close, the wall would break, many shards cutting him and the one who broke the wall.

When he became a vampire, he knew he had to be accustomed to driving people away if any of them knew of his true form, his true nature.

He had to leave everything behind. His past, his former life, would be no more.

He preferred it that way; if he was alone and within his own group, he had nothing and no one to worry about.

Kismet changed all that.

A girl whose blood sang to him, Bella Swan, came to his sights.

Or rather, his senses.

She was drawn to him, someone who was dead yet existing alongside the living. It was strange yet almost intoxicating to resist.

She fell in the deepest depths of love and never wanted to leave his side.

And yet fate wanted to break them apart, by the monsters who made him walk a lonely path, the so-called royalty of the vampire kind, and the wolves who howled by the moonlight.

Forces that wanted to destroy what they had.

All because it didn't fit into their own plans, whatever those were.

He left her in the forest because of protection and so she wouldn't see him in a dark light.

She sought after him. She came back to him despite everything that was at stake.

Edward and Bella had their everlasting nights to walk through, to go and lie in the meadows peacefully.

To make night stand still.

Even if it were for one night.

For ten.

For a hundred.

Even if it was for a thousand nights.

Even if it was a thousand and one.

For a thousand and one nights, they would stay together.

Even if it killed them, it was the only reason that they could think of.
