Saviors, Protectors, Guardians.
That's what they called us, before they knew, before everything went wrong. We were their hero's we protected them and in return, they slaughtered us. They hunted us and when they found us they killed us. Some of us ran, others fought, and the rest, they were left to their fate. They overwhelmed me; locked me up in this god forsaken cage. I protected them! I saved them! And this is what we get in return? Death, and Incarceration? My sentence comes soon, the chopping blocks. Why they didn't just cut me down like the rest is beyond me. Perhaps its because I was stronger, maybe because I saved them the most I cared.
C.1
Hard rain pelted the streets of the cold town; the unforgiving weather blew a blistering cold breeze through the dark streets. A flash of purple light streaked through the air, followed shortly after, by a loud crash; the sudden sound of thunder pierced through the air like a freshly sharpened sword through skin. Sad, miserable people walked these depressing streets. Figures walked slowly, heads hung while being pelted by the harsh rain.
Another flash of light followed by a crash, tears through the air, but the people walk as if not noticing.
Aurian walks with these groups of people, their only hope, their only salvation from their self-pity, hatred, the vices that plague their land, and their people. They are uncaring and unloving, hating those who try to help and condemning those who idly watch; but who can idly watch while a man is beaten and tortured in broad daylight, or a woman raped in the slums of the city. They even condemn their own saviors, hating them claiming they don't need their protection.
Aurian walks by a cathedral a woman sprawled out upon the cathedral steps, hands held out to the priest as she asks for food or water for her son, The priest turns his back on the woman leaving her alone and starving in this god forsaken town, leaving her to die.
People witness this and walk indifferently; a common sight in such a place. Moments later the women's child dies in her arms whether it be from the cold or starvation it makes no difference. Aurian looks down, a puddle formed under him. He kneels down and stares at his reflection in disgust, his silver eyes glistening, a look of pain and anger etched on his face, much like the faces of everyone in this town. He looks at his hands, rough and blistering. He stands up the townspeople walk; each step splashes the water under their feet.
Aurian looks up at the moon rain hits his face, concealing his tears, his sadness, and he walks. He walks with the people of the town, heads hung, sad, and defeated. "I'm just going to go home" the voice echos in his head as he slowly walks towards the guild, towards "home"
