If I Could Speak To You
If I could speak to you, my voice would be soft and gentle as the wind. I would whisper in your ear soft words of comfort when you're sad. And then I would do my best to make you glad. If I could speak to you, I would tell you how beautiful you look when you wake up. And then I would hold you close and never give you up. If I could speak to you, I would tell you how you make me sway when you walk my way. I would tell you how your smile brightens my day. But I can't speak to you, and my heart aches as I watch you go to him. He can speak to you; he can give you words of comfort and of love. He will be the one to wake up next to you instead of me. If I could speak to you, I would tell you that right next to you is where I want to be. My words would help you see how much you mean to me. But as I live in silence, I know you'll never see what we could be. And as long as I live, I'll never give up hope. But for now, I stand aside and watch you from afar. I promise you that my words are true. If I could speak to you, my dear Scarlett, I would tell you that I love you.
A/N: I was just sitting here, contemplating how Snake Eyes must feel as he watches Scarlett with Ripcord. Now I know that he doesn't really show feelings for Scarlett in the movie, but he was in love with her in the comics, so he could very much be in love with her in the movie; it's his character.
