I first met her a year ago. She was lost and alone. There was sadness in her big blue eyes. Besides her was the big and imposing form of DarkKnightmon. There was a hollow feeling in her eyes when he curtsied to us, the Sparrowmon tribe.
We took her in our care. We mistrusted DarkKnightmon, however. Rumors said that he was a power-hungry Digimon who will stop at nothing to get what he wants…even destroy others.
Nene, as I later found her name was, was pretty helpful. She fixed all problems we had within a week. She fed the babies and done everything else needed. She and DarkKnightmon vanquished Bagura Army troops that came after us. Although I doubted DarkKnightmon cared about us, Nene definitely did.
I decided that I needed to settle this once and for all.
"May Nene come with me?" I asked DarkKnightmon. He just nodded.
As soon as two of us were out of sight, I snapped at her.
"Why do you crawl at his feet? That Digimon is evil! He's using you!"
She looked at me wide eyed, then a tear fell down her cheek.
"Because of my little brother…as long as DarkKnightmon has Yuu, I must do his bidding." She confessed.
DarkKnightmon told me that they were team Twilight.
Tomorrow morning, I went to chief.
"I chose my destiny. I will go with team Twilight"
"I won't keep you. Good luck in protecting her from him."
I stared at him.
"How…?"
"I knew you and your motives since you were little, Sparrowmon. You always protected the weak. This isn't any different."
Nene and DarkKnightmon were already leaving the village when I caught up to them.
"I'm going with you." I said stubbornly. I looked straight at Nene, who shivered.
"You're strong, Sparrowmon. Welcome to team Twilight."
That night, with DarkKnightmon asleep, I opened up to Nene.
"I suppose you know why I joined. I won't stand for that jerk abusing you. Not for one moment. Nene, you helped our village a lot."
"DarkKnightmon…"
"Don't assign your deeds to that jerk, Nene." I interrupted her. "Since you helped us, I will help you now."
"Sparrowmon, I… "
"Don't say anything… I have you."
"Because of you, I'm strong."
Some time later, we confronted Kiriha Aonuma and soon after that, DarkKnightmon betrayed us.
He ordered me to attack. I refused.
"I won't. You locked the only one I would listen to in that tower. I always considered you a jerk, DarkKnightmon, and I always will." I countered. I flew away. I had to find Xros Heart and get them to rescue Nene. Then we could be free from DarkKnightmon's control. Forever.
Just me and Nene. Forever.
