Death of a Moon
He walks the face of the earth once more,
Passing by number twenty seven, yet behind the door,
Safely kept, was his little blonde beauty,
One who caused him heartbreak and pain, and put an end to his duty.
The skinny arms, the bony face,
An end to the pain, and the childish games,
The overwhelming love for his savior child, there to save him from himself,
Putting an end to the drama caused by greed and undeserved wealth.
His responsibilities, and name as a father,
And he doesn't care what the court would rather,
He knows she'd be safer, when in his care,
But her mother's fight to keep her was something they shared.
The curtain pole, the tightened rope,
The struggled breaths, the muffled choke.
The surrendered hands of self defeat.
The lifeless air caught in between swaying feet.
The unwillingness to hand her over,
Was a kick in the stomach each and every time,
And every day the fight grew harder, as he saw
The sadness in the little girls eyes, every time he waved goodbye.
Eyes were smoky, like James Deen.
But nobody helps the freak unseen.
And as the life inside them, slowly fade,
The color of his face lightens a shade.
Never did she know this would be the last,
For she was too young, too innocent to understand.
And as he was forced to stop, his hand from waving, like a puppet's slave,
He walked towards the cold and dreary direction of his grave.
The loosened hand, the bottle of scotch,
The lifeless slippers on lifeless limbs, resting ready to rot,
The suicidal thoughts, the corpse resting among the chair,
The cruelness of earth and what was, and was not fair.
Two hours passed, as the contemplation sank in,
And he kept on asking himself the same damn thing,
Could he really take the coward's way out, just like his mother had?
But the stark reality of his future was dark and it was sad.
Was he even sane?
Or just a freak?
Were they the same; he and his mother?
Or was he just weak?
And the only thing that lives tonight,
As final moments have to come,
Are the only words which are in sight,
Reads, "To Michael, Love Mum."
