A/N: Just a one-shot, if you want to see a multichapter fic. Read my other story, which is very similar. *Shameless Plug*

"So what did he say to you?" Castle said as he sat down next to Beckett

"Nothing, it was nothing"

"Kate, I can tell when you're lying. Tell me what he said"

Beckett sighed and straightened up.

"He asked me where do I imagine myself in five years. I said I didn't know. Then he offered me a job in D.C where I could do what he does" Beckett said

"Where do you see in five years?" Castle said hesitantly. They haven't talked about this yet. Abut there future. Sure, it came up multiple times it just never was the right time. Ok, fine, he just deflected it, but they were going to talk about it now.

"I don't know. What do you see?"

"All I know is that it involves you"

That wasn't answer Beckett was satisfied with, but it was toward the direction she wanted it to go, so she let the answer float in the air. Making him talk more, the same technique she used when interrogating suspects.

"I think you should take the job. It's a great opportunity, and I don't want to hold you back from this" Castle said, although it hurt him, saying it meant that they wouldn't be together. Sure, they could try long distance, but he could see it now. It would work in the beginning but hard cases and her being busy, would lead to no time. Eventually it would be over. The last thing he wanted to do was keep her from doing what she wanted.

"No, the last thing your doing is holding me back. Right now I want to know where we stand. Is it that bad?" Beckett said

"No, it's not that bad. 5 years from now, I see us together. I know it's not the answer that you wanted, but it's the truth. Whether it's married, children, all that matters is that we're together" Castle said, his eyes showed the truth. His jaw was tense. His hands were fumbling.

Beckett noticed these things. He was nervous. It was a rare occurrence, but it did happen. He was nervous because he thought he wasn't enough. He was nervous because of what she might say. He was nervous because they might break, and go into ashes.

"You want me to take the job?"

"Yes, it's the right thing."

"Well, I guess I'm doing the wrong thing, I'm not taking the job"

"You can't do that Beckett. You can't sacrifice this opportunity for me. What if we don't work out. I can't live with the knowledge that you might've given up the greatest opportunity you can ever have because of me"

Castle's hand stopped fumbling. His jaw was no longer tense. His eyes were closed. Because the next thing he knew Beckett's mouth was on his.

"Castle don't worry about the what if's, just know that I'm choosing you. I always have and always will" Beckett's forehead was connect with his, just a mirror image of that night when they collided, and succumbed to the insanity of a relationship.

"You ok?" Beckett said

"No, but I will be. Are you ok?"

"Better than"

"Kate, I don't want you to be regretful" Castle said

"I won't"

"Are sure?"

"Castle, I have never been sure of anything in my life" Beckett said, trying to make Castle feel secure.
