Hey! This is just a little (and I mean little when I say it) one shot that has been playing on my mind for a while. I've been missing the bromance between the brothers lately on the show, because Elena is tearing them apart. So I thought I would write this, because it seems to bring them closer together.
Please review!
"As I have said many times before and I will say it again, I am a man of my word and you can trust me" Elijah stated again. He stood in the boarding house parlour along with Elena, Stefan and Damon. He had been trying to persuade the elder Salvatore brother for the past hour that he wasn't lying to him, but annoyingly, he wasn't interested in what he had to say.
"I still don't buy it" Damon said shrugging and leaned against the fireplace with a glass of bourbon in his hand. There were many reasons why he couldn't bring himself to trust him, one of them being that he wanted to hand over the woman he loved to a psychotic revengeful vampire.
"Why?" Elena asked. She knew that he cared- even though he hated to show it- but it was beginning to get tiring.
"Think about it Elena, we are asking him to go against his brother for God's sake!" Damon snapped.
Elijah stepped in, "Which I have told you many times, that I don't care about. He betrayed me centuries ago and now he needs to die". Elijah was beginning to get tired as well. He was doing this for Elena's sake, not Damon, or Stefan either to be honest. He only took the time to include them because Elena wouldn't agree to the plan unless she knew that they were safe.
Damon stood straight and threw back his drink. "That sort of hatred between brothers doesn't last. Take that from someone with experience". Stefan's eyes locked with his from across the room for a split second before Damon looked away. Stefan felt it in that moment, his brothers forgiveness. He never knew it before because it wasn't clear enough. He wasn't ever sure if Damon had forgave him for taking Katherine away from him 147 years ago but he knew in that moment.
"How do you mean?" Elijah asked slightly confused. Damon groaned, knowing he would have to explain it more clearly for the obviously not so smart original vampire. He sat on the arm of the sofa and braced himself.
"Okay... Take me and Stefan for an example. We hated each other " With a look from Stefan, he changed his sentence, "Okay, most of the hatred was on my part. Hell, I even promised him an eternity of misery because I despised him so much for taking away the woman I love- Loved, past tense". He breathed in and looked at the ground. Everyone's eyes were on him and he was feeling the pressure. "But at the end of the day, the bond between brothers cannot be broken and Stefan and I are a perfect example of that" I declared and finished my speech.
"So that Elena, is why I will not trust him to stick with the plan. Because even though he may think that he hates his brother, he is delusional if he thinks that he won't ever forgive him" He said while looking directly at Elena. She didn't know how to reply but she understood every word that he was saying and understood clearly why he couldn't trust him. She just nodded in his direction and then turned her eyes to Stefan.
Stefan was staring at Damon. "Thank you", he said so quietly that only the vampires in the room could hear him. Damon nodded at him, silently telling him that he was welcome and then got up and left the room.
