(Victor's P.O.V.)

I was standing in a corner of the living room, then Trudy came in with Jasper. They were smiling. It was heartbreakingly warming when Trudy smiled. She was like the daughter I never had. Only a child when she first arrived here, she's been reliant on me.

Trudy called "Excuse me! Attention, please!"

Everyone in the room looked at the smiling couple.

Amber said "What's wrong?"

Jasper said "We have an announcement."

I felt a sudden feeling of shock and emptiness. I knew what was coming.

Amber gasped "Are you expecting?"

Trudy giggled. "No, we're not!"

Jasper said "We wanted to tell you that sweet little Trudy and I are getting married."

I felt sick. I felt like Jasper was taking my own daughter as his wife. My little Trudy, the child I'd known for twenty years.

(That night.)

"Is there anything I can get for you before I call it a night, Victor?"

"Just come here for a second, Trudy. I want to talk to you."

She came and sat opposite me.

"Yes?"

"It's about your engagement."

"What about it?"

"It's not that I disapprove, don't get that impression. But are you sure of this?"

"I'm absolutely sure. Why are you asking?"

"It's just that... Trudy, you've been like a daughter to me since you arrived here 20 years ago. I just want to be sure that you'll be happy. I love you like my own child."

She looked like she was going to cry.

"Oh, God, don't go crying on me now. I just love you and I want you happy."

"I will be happy."

(The night before the wedding.)

I played a song over YouTube.

"Get Ready, Get Set, Don't Go." Billy Ray Cyrus. It was suitable for this situation. A father not wanting to let his baby girl go, but having to let her follow her dreams. This had always been Trudy's dream. Fall in love, get married and raise a family. I just didn't want to let her go.

A knock interrupted my depressing thoughts of Trudy getting married and leaving.

"Come in."

Jasper came in, quietly.

"Yes?"

"I just wanted to ask you something."

"Go on."

"Trudy told me that you didn't want to let her get married."

"I don't want to let her get married, but neither do I want to get in the way of her dreams."

"I see your dilemma. I wouldn't want to let Fabian get married either, if he was my kid. But if he wanted it that badly, I'd let him. Did you know that Trudy is crying in her room, scared of upsetting you and going through with the wedding or pleasing you and passing up the wedding she's always wanted?"

"Is she? The poor little thing. But as you're here. Will you take good care of her?"

"Of course I will."

"Would you treat her with respect?"

"Yes, I will."

"Will you love her as long as you live?"

"Yes. I can swear on my life."

"I trust you with her safety and happiness."

He nodded at me.

"OK, go comfort her. Tell her that she doesn't need to worry over it now. She's supposed to be excited and trying on her wedding dress."

"OK. I'll see you in the morning."

"See you."

I replayed the song. And tomorrow, I'll have to attend her wedding and see her get married. But she'll be happy and her happiness is all I can ask for.

Just a random idea I had. I don't know if I'll be continuing, but please tell me what you think. Until next update, Random Dizzy. :D
