"Korra, I do like you. I do. But I like Asami too, and I'm just really con-" Korra leaned forward, kissing him hard. Mako hesitated at first, but soon enough leaned deeply into the kiss. Their lips crashed together in a dangerous dance.
Korra heard soft footsteps behind them, and she broke away, breathless. Her heart raced, and her chest tightened at the person that was watching.
Bolin was standing there, with a bouquet of pink flowers in his hand, obviously meant for her, only making her feel worse.
Mako turned, shocked at who was behind him. "Bolin, this isn't what it looks like!"
Tears welled in Bolin's eyes, and he turned away, running back toward the arena, loud sobs racking his body.
Mako spun around and glared at Korra, "This is all your fault! How am I supposed to explain what happened."
Mako started walking away from Korra and toward the arena. She grabbed his wrist and pulled him back.
"Mako, wait. I think things might make more sense coming from me."
He sighed, trusting Korra to know what to do. "Fine. Go."
Korra walked past Mako, and he put his hand on her shoulder. "And Korra. Tell Bo that I- I'm sorry."
She nodded and ran to catch up with Bolin. She came and saw Bolin sitting on the steps in front of the arena.
Her heart broke at the sight of him. His head hung down, and the heels of his hands were constantly at his eyes, wiping the tears away.
"Bo? Are you alright?" Of course, she knew he wasn't alright. Not by a long shot.
"Does it look like I'm alright Korra?" His voice, surprisingly, wasn't angry. It sounded broken, dejected.
Korra tentatively walked closer to the steps, sitting beside Bolin, but not too close.
Korra put her arm on his arm, "Bolin. I'm so sorry. I really didn't mean to hurt-"
Bolin looked up and stared into Korra's eyes.
"Save it Korra. I know you like Mako better than me. I just hoped that for once in my life, I would get the girl. Not my brother. You know, you were the first girl that I actually really liked. You weren't just some fan. You were an actual girl and I liked that. How real you were, I mean. You weren't pretending to be my friend."
Korra looked down, avoiding Bolin's gaze. "Answer me truthfully Korra, why did you go out with me?"
She swallowed hard. "Mako had just told me that he didn't like me. I was feeling pretty down on myself. When you said all those wonderful things about me, I just, I don't know, knew that you would bring me back up. Like you always do."
"And I always will. Korra, not only are you beautiful, you're stunning. You're smart. You're stong. You're talented. And I-I love you. Korra, I love you. I've loved you ever since I've met you, and I will love you for the rest of my life."
Korra smiled a small smile and looked back up at Bolin. "Forever is a long time, Bo. I don't know if you could handle me for that long."
Bolin reached forward and took her hands in his and chuckled, "Of course I can, Korra. I love you. More than you will never know."
She leaned forward, placing her lips gently on hers. And unlike Mako, Bolin didn't hesitate. He kissed her hard, their lips moving perfectly with one another, fitting together like two halves of a whole.
Bolin broke away, and looked at her, stunned. "I- I thought you liked Mako."
She silenced him with another kiss. This time, short and sweet. "Because, Bolin, I love you. More than you will ever know."
