The single occupant escape pod 'Deus Ex Machina', guided only by its preprogrammed auto-pilot entered the Earth's atmosphere and landed softly in the Australian outback. Joel Robinson, the reluctant sole occupant of the craft, opened the vertical winged door and slowly took his first steps outside of the now dead pod.

These were Joel's first foot steps on solid ground after six and half years. His first foot steps on the surface of the Earth after being trapped in space. His first steps back on his home, alone.

He felt the loose sand shifting beneath his foot steps and the warm breeze against his pale skin. He unzipped his jumpsuit and slipped off the sleeves so he could feel the fresh air overwhelm his body. The warm sun was already setting over the vast isolated terrain, giving a fiery glow to the distant, dusty mountains and untouched earth.

Looking up at the newly blossoming stars that lit up the ever darkening night sky with individual points of brilliant pure white, Joel felt a single tear fall from his pale blue eyes.

"I'm really on Earth, it's not a dream." The harshness of reality was setting in and weighing on his heart.

Joel had promised the robots, his friends, his family; Crow, Tom Servo, Gypsy and Cambot that they would return to Earth together. Here he was finally back on Earth, but utterly alone. He couldn't return to the Satellite of Love to retrieve them, he couldn't return to the Satellite of Love at all. In his heart he felt as though he had lied to his family, that he had betrayed them by leaving them behind.

A single large, bright light slowly orbited the night sky overhead. With his eyes on the star above Joel made a new vow to his now abandoned friends. "I promise I will find a way to see you again. It's the Robinson family way."
