Shiver: The pup's
Chapter 1: Forest Lodge.
Grace's pov:
I ran alongside the pack with my mate and cubs by my side. We came to a stop in a small clearing sniffing for prey. The heat blazed down on us. Suddenly I felt a chill creep up my back. I looked at my mate and whimpered. Suddenly I collapsed to the floor convulsing in spasms and howling in pain. What's happening? The spasm tore through my whole body, sending searing hot flames through my bones. My limbs began to stretch taking on a new form.
Then the pain lessened and the spasm's stopped. I looked around heaving gasps of air. Then I caught sight of a wolf slowly backing away from me.
Sam? I looked down and realized what had happened. The change had come, and I was human.
When I had been injected with the meningitis it hadn't worked I had started to die again, just like jack. Sam had taken me to a hospital in a town near Duluth, where no one would recognise me. They had somehow managed to save me, so we left without leaving any personal details. So I was still wolf. Sam couldn't stand it. Me disappearing every winter. So he had asked Cole to infect him. I looked back at Sam with sad eyes.
"You don't know who I am." I whispered.
The wolf looked her up and down. He looked into her eyes; in his eyes she could see confusion. Looking down a blush spread across my face, realizing I was sat there, naked. I stood up sheepishly and looked once more at Sam then turned and ran towards the lodge. Hoping no one had already transformed I blundered into the lodge running upstairs to find some clothes. Just as I reached my room the door and the other end of the corridor opened and Ulrik walked out. Fully dressed. He looked up at me then blushed deeply turning away.
"Um ah hi grace how are you?" he said gingerly
"I'm fine" I replied with a slight wobble to my voice. I quickly flew through my bedroom door and slammed it behind me. Why, why me? I grabbed a pair of burgundy skinny jeans from my draw and a baggy t-shirt, hoping to disguise the fact I couldn't find my bra. I got changed quickly and went downstairs blushing again when I saw Ulrik. He just laughed.
"Do you want some bacon?" he asked dishing out two plates.
"Yes please." I took the bacon and started to eat it hungrily. Then I stopped dead and looked up at Ulrik, dropping the bacon back onto the plate. I had just remembered something.
"I wonder when Sam is going to shift, is he ok? Will he be alright?" I asked hurriedly starting to feel panic.
"Calm down, I'm sure he's fine. Sam will shift soon." Ulrik replied calmly, eating his bacon. I started to breath normally again, he was right, they would be fine. Suddenly a howl of pain came from outside. Then Sam ran in the door. He looked at me and turned a deep crimson colour. He quickly slid behind the back of a sofa so I could only see his head.
"Hey grace, how are you?" he said like nothing was wrong. I looked at him and laughed smiling broadly.
"I'm fine thanks Sam, how are you?" his crimson colour returned.
"I'm fine thanks. Hey what's that over there?!" He pointed to the wall behind me. I knew what he was doing but I turned away anyway. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Sam flash at the speed of light up the stairs. I looked at Ulrik smiling. Sam came back down the stairs in a pair of jeans and a dull grey top. Suddenly I thought of something. I looked at him suddenly frozen. Sam eyes grew worried as he looked at me.
"what's wrong grace?" he asked looking me in the eye. "Are you ok?" I looked him straight in the eye.
"Sam, we have pups."
