Back into the farthest parts of the forest we see the unicorn, much time had passed since the meet with the red bull. Even at that time she was old, but now... she was ancient. To her up most amazement, she was bearing a child. After whining in pain and anguish for much time another sound arose from this quiet patch of land. There behind her, lay a young colts eyes opened into a world of color and amazement as it was still covered in after-birth.

My child... Thought the unicorn to herself, nuzzling the newborn with her muzzle. Just like it's mother it shared the same beauty. It's big eyes watched it mother, trying it hardest to stand. Seeing her offspring in trouble the unicorn helped it to its feet, licking off any unwanted remains. Look mama, it spoke to her with an utmost grin across its face. The mothers breaths became rugged as she tried to stand, barely even able to. What's wrong mama? Asked the very worried baby, whose question was met with only a weak smile.

Eat baby She motioned with her muzzle, her eyes staring off into the distance. Of course the colt replied with only a nod and the sounds of suckling. Many feelings ran over the unicorn as she knew today would be her last on Earth, it was her time to leave. At least I am no longer alone. The sun began to set over the horizon, as both mother and child lay on the soft green grass of the meadow. Mama? Asked the offspring to its mother, almost in a worried tone. Yes my child? She replied, barely even able to see it. Why do you have to go? Tears filled the old unicorns eyes as she licks the colts head.

It is the circle of life, my child. Everything lives and dies, which we must accept. Cold creeping into her old bones, both mother and child huddled together for warmth. But don't you worry, I will always be with you. The young unicorn could only watch in horror as its mothers eyes slowly closed, and breath ceased. Mama! It called in a panicked voice, tears welling up in its eyes. Please come back mama! Nuzzling into the nape of its mothers neck the baby whinnied and cried out. Soon even its sobs of pain could no longer be heard as it drifted off into a sleep of torture and agony.

The colt awoke that next morning, with no sign of its mothers body. Where has she gone? Clumsily it wobbled its way over to the river from which to drink, looking down for only a moment to realize something. What once was a tiny spot on its forehead was now a horn. A very bright and shining horn. Almost in a way it could see it's mother in the horn, which reassured the child. Life would go on. Even though it's mother physical being was no longer around, she would always be with it.

Just like it's mother, the baby grew. He became one of the many leaders of the forest, up until the 1900's as deforestation was just starting. Even today if you stand in that same forest you can hear the haunting voice of this majestic creature, the last unicorn.
